  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am not a public speaker type, I am a bit shy and I am one of the quietest people in class but when it comes to talking about the end times and other issues facing us I cannot keep quiet! I get inspiration out of nowhere. I think it is time I take the message to other people besides those of the message boards.

I have done so well in Christianforums and so many people have read my threads that I thought I could take this to the streets.

now my questions are

1) what does the Bible say about Preaching? do i have to go to seminary to be able to street preach?

2) is it illegal to street preach in American public squares?

No, but in some places like malls you need to get permission first. When we hand out tracts and rosaries at local stores and such we always call a head and get the okay first.

I have mixed feelings on street preaching mostly because it seems to me that those who would listen are already Christians and the rest would just think the average guy yelling about the Bible on the street is nuts. If that's what you think God is calling you to tho, I'd suggest first getting some sort of degree, or maybe seminary.

I want this as a secret hobby. I would basically talk about my many threads which I have in christianforums.com

I thought that if they do so well here they might be good to the ears of people passing by.

A person doesn't need degrees to be led by God's Spirit. Those called are already priests and are called to preach the good news to the world. However, our witness to the world envolves so much more than our mouths, and a steady quiet life of doing good deeds and watching after the lives of those around us speaks more of Christ inside us than going to a street corner and being labeled as one more Christian nut case. I'm not saying that a person might not be able to do just as you propose, but I've seen more turned away by agressive robotic handing out of literature and cliche' Christian phrases than brought in. It says so much more when a person lives the life by being a servant to the community and being know by the works that they do in the Lords name. The Bible says this:

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

2 Corinthians 3:2 Ye are our epistle (open letter) written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

EPHESIANS 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Proverbs 31:8-9 Speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitue. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

1 Peter 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

The visible Church has a poor reputation before the world and it is reflected by the condition it is depicted in by Revelations account right before the Lord returns, as greedy and self-serving, but the Church that gets little notice quietly goes about the everyday business of leading Godly honest lives of service - loving their neighbor in truth and ACTION and thusfulfilling the Royal law.

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

I JOHN 3:16-19 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can. the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and TRUTH. This then is how we KNOW that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us.

Acts 19:36 Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

1 Timothy 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Where ever God leads you, I would that you be obedient and successful in your endeavors for Him.

If God told you to do it, then do it.... but if He didn't... go ask Him about it. :D Whatever He says goes. And keep this in mind if He tells you to...Jesus didn't have a Seminary degree but He did know the Scriptures... not saying that you should never get one because you should always be prepared and Seminary definitely helps (I'll be goin there myself after college). Anyways, those are my thoughts. Have a great day!

If you believe God has called youto street preaching do it.
Study the book of Acts. The apostle Peter is afraid to confess Jesus to a little girl. A few weeks later, this same uneducated, untrained man, gets up, talks for about twenty minutes and tells it like is, and THREE THOUSAND were saved. He goes on and on like that...and look what happened to him! :)

Pretty powerful stuff.
If you feel that God is calling you to full time ministry then I would definitely suggest seminary/Bible College, etc.
But it doesn't take a degree to be a witness for Christ.
;)
Best wishes!

thanks for the encouraging words good people!

My idea was to do what I do here in Christianforums which is mix current events with end times etc. I plan on typing out what I will preach and typing a separate paper to give to those interested (which would have facts, information, Bible verses, and other things about what im preaching that day).

I have to add that one of my inspirations was reading about the religious revival of old America. The preachers through their emotional speeches (which broke the puritan barrier of preaching) attracted people like never before to convert. After I read about the religious revival right away I thought I should be doing this.

Another thing I can add is that I have introduced a lot of people to things about the end times. In high school if not mistaken I taught 4 friends about the mark of the beast/world govt and other end time subjects. So I do have some experience in preaching I guess he he

Well no he didn't but technically he should have gotten one.

Anyways JHessel if you ever street preach in North America, you let me know where, and I'll make every possible effort to go there at some point :yum:
