  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want baptism now!! why wait? it may be too late!

Tateziwin,

You must have had baptism to be saved, fear greatly for your soul if you cannot relate to this passage, 1 Peter 3:21.

And this prefigured baptism, which now saves you, not the washing off of physical dirt but the pledge of a good conscience to God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, do not fear for your soul if you merely speak of the baptism of water. Do get baptised when you can, but do not put your trust of salvation in this baptism of water; only upon the Lord Jesus Christ.

I am just a bit frightened that what if the Lord returns next Tuesday or tomorrow and I haven't been able to get baptised due to the 'annual' intake not taking place whenever..
Will I still get to heaven if i'm not baptised?

No one in thier right mind should deny baptism. If this truly troubles your soul, then let no man or demon stand in your way.

If a church will not baptize you maybe you should think of another church, at least for baptism. If it comes down to it, you may just need to get another person and have him/her Baptize you.

I can't believe that a church would deny someone this Holy Sacrament. It is only the devil who doesn't want us to be baptized.

JVAC is completely right. Go now! Run to the font and be Washed. If your desire is to be Baptized, then find the nearest Lutheran Church and speak to the Pastor of your desire. You will not be turned away. Be Washed and ask questions later. If you decide later, for any reason, that it was not a valid Baptism, and if we (Lutherans) are wrong, then simply, your hair was washed. You cannot lose. Praise Be To Christ!

The thief on the cross next to Jesus was promised eternal life even though obviously he had no chance to be baptized. I look at this as special circumstances though. The Lord does on occasion make exceptions contrary to popular belief. But taking advantage ofsuch exceptions is not looked upon with favor. Therefore, do not fear but do everything in your power to get baptized as soon as possible.
