  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought I was a prophet???

I posted last Wednesday that we heard we were having a girl. Let's look at the method. My wife and I are in the "old" bunch having children, so the Doctor insisted we have a CVS test, which looks at Chromosomes to determine the health of the baby. My wife and I went along and they called Wednesday to tell us that everything is perfect---no defects anywhere!!!!! Yea God (actually, we felt like we knew that all along, but hey, it's nice to hear, anyway.
Next, the lady asked me, do you want to know the sex?
Of course, I say.
It's a girl!!!

I promise I was not disappointed and I would never want a child to know even if I was. But I was perplexed. All the way through the last pregnancy, my wife and I were sure it was a girl--and it was. All the way through this one, we've just been sure it was a boy--I mean really sure!!! But chromosomes don't lie, right--I mean this is a sure thing!!

But anyway, we picked out a name and began to celebrate how nice it would be to have two girls.
Then Friday, on the way to my wife's hometown, we got a call from the lab--we're sorry, we've made a grave error!--that's enough to scare anyone!!!
So she says, it's ok, really, but we don't know how we missed this one--we always double check.
You're having a boy!
So, now we're sure--it's a boy and we're prophets after all.;)

So celebrate with us again--but this time--it's a boy!

Hey congrats! Something of the same thing happened to us. Our first was a boy ("knew" it would be throughout the preg., even though we were never told). Altho we were very happy with our little boy, God had put a deep longing in my heart for a girl. So when we were preg. the 2nd time we decided to find out the sex, altho I was certain God had told me he was going to give me a girl. When the ultrasound showed a boy (the tech was VERY certain!) I was very confussed because I believed so strongly that God had told me it was going to be a girl. Well for the next few months I had to work things out with God. By the time I went into labor, I had come to the place where I would be truely content with Gods will for my life, even if that ment having 2 boys and no girls. Well you guessed it, 3 1/2 weeks early, with no girl names or clothes and a bukbed bought for the "boys room" the baby came out A GIRL! I felt as though God had preformed a miracle, not only in "changing the sex" but in changing my whole outlook on accepting the will of God when it's not nessicarily my will. By the way. I now understand why God gave me such a stong desire for a girl...I don't think I would have been able to deal with her stong personality as well otherwise!

Congratulation again. And have fun!
