yes, it's surely a good one. i didn't learn it until i was in my 30s. in the church i grew up in (Lutheran) we did not sing this. it may or may not have been in our hymnal, but we always sang, "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today" on Easter and then when i started attending the Church of the Nazarene, they sang "He Arose" every Easter instead... and i really came to love it.

our neighbor, who introduced our family to the Nazarene church, told me once that he brought a friend to church and that friend commented that he'd never heard more beautiful hymns than at the Nazarene church. i thought that was interesting, and i tend to agree. below are a couple of hymns that my pastor mentioned recently in a sermon. He said "How The Fire Fell" was one of his beloved favorites of childhood and wondered if anyone else remembered it. i had to go home and look it up. it's powerful. both of these songs are in our Nazarene hymnal, yet i'd never heard them before, but i love them now... i'm a real music person. particularly the "Deeper, Deeper" one is a new favorite.

hope you enjoy them if you given a listen.

Thanks! And I remember those hymns from my childhood.

I am hoping that we'll sing both songs on Sunday [He arose and Christ the Lord is Risen Today]. I am playing on my flute Come, Ye Faithful and Thine is the Glory. The second one is in the Sing To the Lord Nazarene Hymnal.

so you know those hymns... i think you must have grown up "Nazarene." what a blessing. and what a nice way for me to start a Saturday morning by listening to these as i post :)

hmmmm, Come, Ye Faithful certainly sounds familiar to me, but could not find it on-line (except for "O Come All Ye Faithful") but i do know Thine is the Glory, of course. i'm sure your performance will be a beautiful tribute to our Lord. i'm off to listen to "Thine is the Glory" now, as i've been humming it :)

i pray you have a blessed Easter, sister Marie.

yes, I am a life long Nazarene. If you count my dad's step-mother's line, I would be a 6 generation Nazarene. But the real reason why I know those hymns is because my mother was the organist at church.

Here is the hymn -

six generations! why am i not surprised? because at the Church of the Nazarene where i attended for many years, most families were related either through blood, marriage, or both... people don't tend to leave once they find a faithful, good and true church family.

thank you for posting that hymn... i had never heard it before. it's lovely. music really speaks to my heart.

i took flute lessons for a year when i was young, in sixth grade. but my mama had to take the flute back because we fell on hard times and could not afford it :(. i did enjoy playing it though, but mostly would have loved to learn to play piano. i do play a bit, self-taught, but i don't have my own piano. sigh...lol. i sing like a bird, though, or used to... maybe i sound a little more like a frog these days :) but i still can make a joyful noise!
