  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think this is one reason evangelism fails.

I've read that some of the greatest evanglist have been Paulinist (Calvinist) does anybody have any transcripts of thier preaching?

John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim's Progress, and a great preacher.

George Whitefield, the greatest evangelist, ever to set foot on American soil.

John Paton - Missionary to New Hebrides.

Jonathan Edwards - William Carey - Charles Haddon Spurgeon and others.

It was the hopeful doctrine of election that God used to encourage the Apostle Paul when he was afraid to go to Corinth; God said to him, ". . . I have much people in this city " (Acts 18:9, 10).

No, the doctrine of Election does not dampen evangelism if it is rightly held, but rather, it guarantees the success of it and should be the greatest encouragement that we have.

I just finished reading Pilgrim's Progress about a week ago. That is such a great book.

That guy was very talented.

God bless
Yes, did you read the 2nd part? About Christianna? It's not as good as the one about Christian. The book really changes a Christian's perspective on life after they read it. The whole book is about "overcomming' it is a simultude or allegory.

Sorry to be the one to tell you but you just destroyed any possibility of about 80% of this MB ever reading it by showing his affiliation to Calvinism.

Too bad. It's probably a great book. I'll check it out. I'm not afraid of the truth.

Thanks for sharing.

So what? He doesnt propigate Calvinistic Ideals is his book. Its your loss if you dont read it because of a reason like that. I think you'll like it.

Yes, I read the second part. I was glad to see Christian's wife and children embrace his faith.

I'm a reformed Christian. I wasn't referring to my desire to read it on that basis. I was talking about most of the other Christians on this MB.

I'm sure I would like it.

God bless
