"Seek ye first the kingdom of God."
Philippians 4:11-13 - Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Hebrews 13:5 - Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
1 Timothy 6:6-8 - But godliness with contentment is great gain.
There is nowhere in the scriptures that says we are to get wealth through prayers to God. We are to be content with what we have, nay even to count our sufferings - even poverty - as joy.
James 1:2
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.…
Any preacher who says that you will be granted earthly riches through prayers to God is a charlatan. It's a lie. There was never any such promise. The "word of faith" preachers are counseling a form of witchcraft which is an abomination to God. I have seen Copeland claim that you can make God do things by just praying the right words, that he has no option but to give you wealth because it's not possible for him to refuse if you string together the correct words. He's even gone so far to say, and I witnessed him saying this, that one does not have to be a Christian for this witchcraft to work. God HAS to obey those promises.
The problem with this, apart from the fact that he's saying you can order God around, is that those sorts of prayers are not seeking God's kingdom first.
If that sort of teaching does not chill you to your very bones, then you must not have even a little bit of understanding regarding God's kingdom. You have no discernment. You are influenced by men who have no love for God and no love for you. Their love is for money and their own sordid personal desires.
