Well he himself admits that he doesn't want to honour men, but honour God, and he also admits to not being a popular pastor. So when I compared him to marlin mason, I was simply saying that as mason represents the most extreme of shock rock, Pastor Paul Washer represents an extreme of Christian.
In his sermons, he speaks of "the prayer of salvation" being worthless in the Christian journey, well he didn't phrase it like that, but he makes it sound worthless. The prayer of salvation wasn't featured in the Bible, it simply tells us to believe in Jesus, and believe that he rose from the dead as a requirement of salvation.
When I say he takes things very far, I mean that I feel like he successfully scares the viewer/listener, and I feel like he offers little hope to patch the hole he makes in your mind. After listening and watching his sermons I feel the need to be the perfect Christian, but it makes me focus on myself and not Jesus, which is also a trap, because you will always fail, because you can't be perfect.
When I said if you focus on Jesus you will simply change, I meant that from personal experience, if you look at Jesus, spend time in the word, think about him, and praise his name and pray regularly that eventually you will die to yourself and become a person who lives for Jesus, and by simply focusing on trying to get to know him you open your heart to change and allow him to come in.
