• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Greetings all ,

I still remember what my Mother told me when I was young - ( though for a time I may have acted like I had forgotten ).

To share , and be unselfish .

To be kind , and not mean spirited .

To learn to get along with others , and not be involved in fighting against them .

To love , and not hate .

To pray and give thanks to God , and not take things for granted .

To be forgiving , and not tattle nor hold any grudge .

To honor my elders , and not be ill behaved .

To respect others and their property , and not steal or vandalize .

To be honest , and not lie .

To speak well , and not say evil or blasphemous things .

To be polite , and not ignore good manners .

To be reliable , not slack in meeting responsibilities .

To take precaution , and not be reckless .

To be content ; and not covetous .

To be chaste , and not wanton .

To embrace godly fellowship , and steer clear of bad influences .

To be compassionate , and not cruel or indifferent towards others in their affliction .

To simply try my best at what I was given to do , and not be envious or proud because of what others may or may not seem to be able to do .

To be obedient , and not rebellious towards authority .

And things of this nature .

Thankyou Lord for my earthly mother , and the lessons she sought to impart .

Listen, my child, to what your father teaches you. Dont neglect your mothers teaching. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and clothe you with honor. Proverbs 1:8-9

Hi Treasurer ,

Yes , that verse came to mind !

Along with -

My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
<-----> Proverbs 6:20-26

Much of our grounds for having an active and empowering good conscience towards God is based upon our submission to Christ in the " loins girt about with truth " department . ( Ephesians 6:14 - 1st integral part of " The Armour of God " = God our Arm / Strength ! )

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? <-----> Isaiah 53:1

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? <-----> Isaiah 51:9

Rahab -

H7293
רהב
rahab
rah'-hab
From H7292, bluster (blusterer): - proud, strength.

H7292
רהב
râhab
raw-hab'
A primitive root; to urge severely, that is, (figuratively) importune, embolden, capture, act insolently: - overcome, behave self proudly, make sure, strengthen.

the dragon -

H8577
תּנּים תּנּין
tannîyn tannîym
tan-neen', tan-neem'
(The second form used in Eze_29:3); intensive from the same as H8565; a marine or land monster, that is, sea serpent or jackal: - dragon, sea-monster, serpent, whale.

H8565
תּן
tan
tan
From an unused root probably meaning to elongate; a monster (as preternaturally formed), that is, a sea serpent (or other huge marine animal); also a jackal (or other hideous land animal): - dragon, whale. Compare H8577.

preternaturally -
adverb: in a supernatural manner

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
<-----> 2nd Chronicles 32:7+8

Assyria - in the sense of successful

of flesh - flesh (from its freshness); by extension body, person; also (by euphemism) the pudenda of a man

pudenda - noun: human external genital organs

" But with us is the ..."

LORD - The self Existent or eternal

God - The Supreme God , Great and Mighty Judge .

"And the people rested themselves upon the words of ..."

Hezekiah - strengthened of Jah

" king of ..."

Judah - celebrated w/ ( praise + thanksgiving )

One verse , one word leads to another , and another ...

May The Lord Be Pleased to Bless . In Jesus' Character and Authority . Amen .

That's a wonderful thing that your mother told you. Thank you for sharing it with us.

All those things are not only important to remember, but very true.

God Bless :)

Hi jc ,

I'm glad you can see to agree !

What is presently standing out about my mother is that she received me as a welcomed and prayed for gift , as one to be thankful to God for ; and consequently her disposition towards me was one of godly stewardship in the holy fear of The Lord .

But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? .....

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. <-----> Job 28:12+28

Hi soblessed ,

Yes , so often our world appears headed for a dismal demise , yet I'm reminded that God Is Able to Miraculously turn things around , when we turn unto Him through The Testimony of Jesus Christ , with our whole heart , soul , mind , and strength .

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
<-----> Matthew 22:36+37

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity
... <-----> Jeremiah 29:11-14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. <-----> 2nd Chronicles 7:14

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
<-----> Malachi 4:5+6

And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
<-----> Matthew 17:10-13

Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam. <-----> Judges 5:12

" Awake ..."

Deborah - the bee , (in the sense of orderly motion); (from its systematic instincts)

" Arise ..."

Barak - lightning; by analogy a gleam; concretely a flashing sword: - bright, glitter (-ing, sword), lightning.

" And lead thy captivity captive, thou son of..."

Abinoam - father of pleasantness (that is, gracious)

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. <-----> Ephesians 5:14

Awake to righteousness, and sin not ... <---> 1st Corinthians 15:34

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. <-----> Romans 13:11

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
<-----> 1st John 1:6+7

Peace and Joy , In Christ's Righteousness .
