  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One can still find people who sew and tailor clothing as well as shoe repair shops...

So perhaps being a proverbs 31 woman is still necessary, if one is seeking quality and longevity in home goods/clothing?!

I'm very old and don't remember skirts and dresses covering the ankles. Where are you from?
I am 85 so to me, very old is 110. I grew up Catholic in rural America in a town just outside of Lansing Michigan, with 8 sisters and 1 brother. I was stuck in the middle and went thru the final days of the Baltimore Catechism, so to me, God is a whip cracking God, not a loving, down to earth God and Jesus. A plunging neckline on a woman was a mortal sin. Today, modesty is a thing of the past.

Wow! I'm amazed and now I understand. I went to public schools. My parents divorced when I was eight. My mother quickly remarried. We moved up and down the east coast, So I attended several public schools. I'm in my 70's. My sisters are deceased,

Nice Skates! Mine just strapped on to my shoes and had metal wheels. You could feel every bump in the pavement! :)
When they broke we would make them into skate boards, using what ever boards we could find.

I guess I am one of the younger members on here, as I am only 38, compared to you peeps who are 85 and 70, respectfully.

I remember back in the 90s when I was a kid they actually had roller skating rinks. I did go to one of those many times. It was a lot of fun.

Roller rinks were big back in the 50's. The only way I could stop was to grab the safety rails when they came up. Big music speakers along with large air circulating fans. And of course the round globe lights, for the partner dancing, when they dimmed the lights.

I loved the rollar rinks! They were still big in the 60's and 70's.
The music was terrific ... the whole experience was just so much fun! :)
