They'd go off at sunset.You brought back a memory I'd forgotten about. Remember when TV stations didn't broadcast 24 hours a day? At some point late at night, they'd play the national anthem and "sign off". Nothing but static/white noise till the next morning.
Then, KAAY, Little Rock, Arkansas, was permitted to crank up the am signals to 50,000 watts. They could be heard from Mexico to Southern Canada!
