  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I really need some advice...

Just keep trusting in God. And don't let anyone talk you out of your convictions. DH and I started trying when we had been married only 5 months and I was only 20 as well. Sounds like you and your husband are smart and responsible and you've got your heads on straight. Good luck!

Yup, whilst I completely agree with what Kelly says in terms of keep tyour convictions and that, time is often a good thing (a couple of months of non-hormonal birth control for instance) to see if this is actually what God wants.

Also, we don't actually know you on here, and whilst asking for advice is the most awesome thing, if you know anyone who's knows you both both (I'm thinking older married couple) then they'd probably be the best to talk to as they'll have that advice that can only come from knowing you. We did this and got told they were really excited about us having kids and were more than mature enough to (though we were 3 year married at that stage).

God also gives common sense, so I'd be wanting to make sure you can afford a baby on one income for a bit if needed (save one income at the moment completely possibly - not using it at all). Also I'd be wanting to make sure that the scaredness isn't because you are doing it too early. I wanted a baby within about 6 months but hubby wasn't so sure at that stage but said if I wanted one, then he was happy with it.... Personally I am SO thankful we didn't try then, because those 3 years gave us an extremely firm relationship before we went to try to have a baby - not saying you'll have problems trying by any means, but if you do, you truly want a firl relationship first so make sure you have that too...

So I guess I've got no real answers except search out God through advice from a couple who know you both...
