I'm unfamiliar with cosmology. I was under the impression he had people watching him due to his Fundamental beliefs. Guess not. I've even seen folks on here question if his church is Christian at all.Wow, you changed "Geocentric Old Earth Creationism" to "no comment" in the 'origin of the world' section. I have some cosmological views that I generally have to keep my mouth shut about as well.
I dunno that it qualifies as that, since we as Christians are actually given a lot of leeway for cosmology.
The cigarette smoking man from X-Files!!! Classic! They are running old X-Files shows on TNT or something late nights. Good stuff.

I'm confused!
The scientific definition of cosmology is the study of the origin and evolution of the universe (very loosely, it could be defined as the study of the Big Bang). I took cosmology last year, it's quite interesting.
In more common parlance, "cosmology" often refers to one's view of the universe. I'm not sure which definition is being used here.
That would be me. Richard's fundamentalist church believes that the Sun orbits the earth. By his own admission, they also control the lives of their members. He has, on many occasions, expressed concerns about his church leaders learning that he listens to secular music and watches television. Of course at the end of the day, they nominally claim "by grace are ye saved," and cover their own guilt by attacking the Catholic Church.
I've spoken to Richard since before he joined this church (he did not grow up there; rather he voluntarily sought it out). He's a good guy, but he's relatively new to Christianity, and I would hate to see him make shipwreck of his faith because of these people. I am concerned that when he finally learns that the earth is not the center of the universe, or when one of their other numerous strange doctrines is exposed as false, he will be harmed spiritually. I don't use this word often, but Toronto Baptist Church is a cult, not a church (and I don't think that this violates CF rules, since they reject the Nicene Creed).
It's for this reason that I'm vague in my profiles and blogs.People from school have been following up on me, I don't want information to get out.

Are those the main reasons why you would call it a cult? Please elaborate.
