• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I just wanted to share with someone that I quit smoking today. After 30 plus years of being in bondage to nicotine and beginning to feel the effects of this "beloved" habit, I want to live as a non-smoker for the remainder of my life. I am tired of spending the money. I am tired of having to have a cigarette with me in everything I do. Generally, I'm tired of feeling so trapped by this insidious addiction. Through much prayer and support from family, friends and you guys, I am determined to become a non-smoker. Thank you for listening to me and please pray for me, for I truly believe that prayer will be a "huge" part of my success. For others who need prayer, please let me know and together we can encourage one another to good works, bolstering up one another during this time of walking in freedom from nicotine.

Warm Regards

I am now a non smoker too. I used Commit lozenges for about 3-4 weeks to quit. I did not even go through the entire package. I take one once in awhile if I get the urge. It certainly makes us feel better about ourselves and we don't have to obsess on when the next cig will be, and spend so much money, and mostly destroy ourselves, our lungs, heart, esophagus, mouth.

Congratulations on quitting!!

I'll try to remember to pray for you everytime I feel like I need a cigarette. I decided today that I want to quit smoking. It'll be hard, because I honestly get stressed pretty easily at work. It feels good, but it's just something I've been ashamed of lately. I know my parents raised me better than that. I went outside to smoke 30 minutes ago and had to walk around outside because of the guilt I felt. :(
