• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

this post should put me over the hump so I can get into some of the other areas on this site.....I am new and just trying to find my way around here.
Keep posting about your quitting.....one piece of advice I would give you......set up a reward program for yourself.....and rewards don't have to be things that cost money! rewards WILL help keep you focused and looking "forward"....don't let yourself romanticize your smoking past.....keep moving forward.....life is now about the advantages of NOT smoking.....be proud of yourself! You are doing a terrific thing!

Me too. I just quit going on 4 weeks now! Hallelujah!

This was one thing God kept telling me I had to lay down to go to the next level in my life.

He woke me up about 4 weeks ago and told me to go on a 7 day fast, and at the end of that fast I would be totally set free from cigs. GUESS WHAT? I smoked on the fast, but as the days got closer to the end I realized I smoked less and less and they started to taste funny. I was a pack a day smoker.

That last day of fast, I smoked 3 cigs and I remember the Holy Spirit saying, "This is it"..Guess what? IT was.....

After trying to stop on my own for years, the power of God took it away after a 7 day fast that instructed me to go on.

If you can't quit, I say Fast and watch God work.

I have no desire to smoke, none. It is almost as if I never had an addiction and this comes from someone who has smoked for 16 years and smoked heavy.

HALLEULUJAH!!!!!!!

Talk to God about fasting to quit. I am telling you, it worked for me and another friend of mine who smoked for almost 20 years. No withdrawls whatsoever!...Talk about a testimony of God's power. NO desire to pick one up, the smell makes my throat tighten now.

I am putting this in BIG letters to show the devil that he has no authority over God's children with his toxins. Our God is able to deliver us and he will...

Talk to God about fasting to quit and watch God be glorified!

Thank you all for your prayers and concerns. I have been doing good not smoking. It's been a couple of weeks. I was a two pack a day smoker and depending on how long my work day went, I might of smoked more. . I have been taking a pill called "Chantix", It is expensive and not all insurances cover it yet, but it is fantastic! You take one pill, twice a day. The cravings aren't bad, you kind of just forget about the smoking. I have had a stumble or two but nothing bad. When I have stumbled and smoked I was able to get right back on the wagon.
Again Thank you all for your prayers. It has helped.

Blessings
