• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I never feel like I'm being sincere when I pray or with many things in my life. It's just as if I go through the motions. I don't feel like I mean it when I pray to be saved, when I tell God I give Him my life, and especially when I say that I repent for sin. I don't feel anything within me is truly genuine. I don't even feel like I can sincerely love God or others. Does anyone else know what I mean and is this ocd?

Thanks so much for anyone's help.

How small can you take your prayers? I mean, what's the most minute and thoroughly distilled concept you can reduce one single prayer to?

Look at your right thumb. Work it up and down. Sideways. Slide it around inside your palm. Think of all it does for you in a day. Touch it to each of the other fingers on your right hand. Now touch your left hand with it. Your face. Your head.. hair, ears, teeth. Scratch your foot with it.

Now tell God about that thumb All about it. The many ways you use it all the time. And why you are so happy He gave it to you. Thank Him for the thumb. After all, it WAS a gift from God.

Go ahead. It should take you several minutes, at least. Be serious about it. Get down, and REAL.

If you did all I asked you to, you just prayed to God about something pretty important to you. Does praying seem any different to you right now?

If it does....... sit and think about WHY that might be.

HINT: You weren't trying to pray about the entirety of life in one prayer. You just honestly and seriously talked to God about a true, simple feeling you experienced.
