  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

please help.. i know this post is long.. the last blurb is the important part and three blurbs down is what explains why the last blurb is important

yeah... i figured that i wasnt to use proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation, my apologies to all who it bothers... i was in a hurry

anyways... first day in these forums
not christian

four days ago a pastor (spelled right?) approached me and we had a long talk about our beliefs, before he left, he asked if he and his wife may pray for me, i agreed and they did

the prayer included him asking that i may find a sign to show me on my path...

three days ago, the morning after i was prayed for... my father and brother stumbled onto the carcasses of many dead elk, deer, and moose... where the local roadkill is dropped off
but i brushed that off

two days ago i went to the mall and was approached by another religious man (doesn't USUALLY happen every couple of days ) and he told me about a spirituality called Krishna (possibly Krisna) i was given a small book of information which i have not yet finished reading... i am also currently reading the bible... beliefs interest me... i also have a book on buddhism i have not yet began

yesterday... nothing important, just a generally bad day *sigh*

and today... at around 2:30 - 2:45 while i was sitting in my class listening to a cd i know by heart on my headphones, between songs, there was a voice
i would like to point out i do not, and have not done drugs.. i am not suffering from lack of sleep... i did not imagine the voice.. it came from my headphones, i know this for a fact, and i did not imagine it...
the voice was feminine and slightly robotic sounding
it was slightly hard to understand as it was very unexpected
it said either:
why do you ask? i am real.
or
what do you ask? i am real.

the "i am real" part was the hardest to hear... and i checked everything with my discman.. the voice was not on my cd.. and considering there werent any females sitting near me.. it did not come from my surroundings

i am seeking answers...:help:

Assuming this is real, I would suggest not coming to this forum for insight into God, as there are elements in here that will do everything they can to steer you in the wrong direction. It is good that you are reading the Bible (it will speak to your spirit (although that's not easy to explain how it does that) and lead you to truth)

I would suggest talking to God and answering it's question. The "What do you ask" may have been an answer to a common prayer we Christians pray for non-believers, by saying to God 'Give so-and-so the answers he/she seeks oh Lord'

Through my studies into the Bible and other texts as well as answers to my own questions, I've come to a rock-solid conclusion that GOD IS REAL.

Wow!!!

This sounds like some supernatural thing to me, but no one can tell for sure.

Fact is, you are seeking for the direction if I am right. My advice to you is to stop reading books, this is men’s ideas. Continue to read the bible, start with the New Testament and ask God to help you to understand what you read.

You may not understand everything immediately, but certain verses will be clear to you, meditate on these parts daily and you will see how a big puzzle comes together.

thank you altya :) but... there is a reason behind all of the books.. i was raised without a religion.. but have developed beliefs... i want to find placement for them... and... wasn't jesus the only man without sin... and therefore wasnt the bible written by sinners... is it then not unlike the other books?

Good point, but it was inspired by God.

But it sounds to me that God was telling you to ask him personally, whatever it is you seek. This will of a personal relationship with you is prevalent in God's word. I believe it is the first step you should take, as you were invited to do so.

Your soul is hanging in the balance, as they say choose wisely. The minute that you start looking for God, Satan will jump in there and try to pull you down the wrong road. The only one who can save you is Jesus Christ, he is the one who paid your debt. Your answers can only be found in the Bible. Build your house on the Rock, the Rock is Jesus.

The Bible tells us that all men know there is a God, but some prefer to remain in the dark when the true light is revealed to them - either because of pride or not wanting their deeds exposed to light.
When reading the gospel of John in the New Testament, you will find that Jesus tells us that He is the light of the world and that He was the Living Word of God made flesh to walk among men for a brief time and to then die for the sin and death that man inherited from their progenitor - Adam.
I hope you will continue to pray, seeking God, and reading the New Testament about Jesus, and come to the light of truth through His promise to make us new creatures born of God - spiritually. Knock and the door will be opened, ask and receive. The book of John is very profound for meditation, and as Jesus said, "the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63)

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

That's amazing teach,

Before coming to Christ, I too used to be into examining religions, sort of trying to pick and choose what made sense from each one and develop my own ideas.
When I read your post the first thing that came into my head is that the dead animals represented dead faiths - i.e. krishna and buddhism. There they were, all these dead, unliving things, all these false pursuits.

God can and does speak to us all in different ways. You message over your headphones is very exciting and I believe it's God talking to you. If you look at the Bible, God has spoken to others in very direct questions like that.

If you are familiar with Paul, he originally went by the name Saul and was, literally, a Christian hunter. After Jesus' death, resurrection and ascension, the Jesus movement was growing quickly. The Jewish leaders were seeking to quell this rebellion and Saul was a Jew who would go out and hunt down Christians (I don't think they called themselves that yet, still saw themselves as Jews), bring them back to the temple in stocks and chains and they would often be put to death or imprisoned.

While travelling he heard a voice ask a question abruptly like you did. Basically, "Why do you persecute me?" He later converted!

It's not exactly clear what you are asking. I sense about two or three implicit questions in your post, but I can't be sure if you are asking those things. I will leave it to you to clarify further, if you wish to.

In the meantime, about that odd voice you could have sworn you heard, I'm not sure anyone here is able to explain for you what it was, where it came from, why you heard it, etc. (although a few will probably try), because there is just not enough information to go on -- about you as a person and the circumstances surrounding the event, both prior to and during. Whatever it was, granting that it was legitimate, it seems to me that it was something meant for you -- in other words, anyone here will have a difficult time making sense of it because it wasn't designed for any of us. So with these two notions in my mind, I'm not sure if this is the best place to find answers (regarding what the voice was, or who it was, or why you heard it, etc).

However, that being said, this particular forum is related to Questions about Christianity. Here we are more readily able to answer questions like, "I heard this voice and it said [insert message]. Is that consistent with God's nature and revelation? If not, was this voice perhaps from somewhere other than God?" Or questions like, "Does God speak to people like this? Has he done it before?" Also, if you are reading the Bible and investigating the Christian religion, any other questions you may have about God or Christianity can be answered here (e.g. Why did Jesus have to die, Is the trinity "three Gods," etc).

I wish I could tell you what you heard, where it came from, what it meant, etc. But like I said, if it was a sign then it was meant for you. I know God is certainly real, and I know God certainly desires to have you with him and to give you peace. And what you claim the voice said is not inconsistent with God's nature or revelation. But what did it mean? I don't think I can answer that. But what I can tell you is, "Pray about it."

If nothing else, the voice certainly got the ball rolling on your spiritual journey. I hope you run to God and truth.

I just wanted to add one thing here, a small warning or cautionary flag. Having someone pray over you, a prayer that includes asking God to give you a sign to show you on your path, it certainly puts your mind in a place to look for signs, doesn't it? I just want to say, Be sure you're not seeing signs where they don't exist. If your mind is geared to keep an eye out for signs, all kinds of things might appear as a sign. Humans are naturally pattern-seeking creatures to begin with.

Read lots. Ask questions. Pray more.
