• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have a habit of always doing something. If I am not watching T.V. I am reading or maybe I put the computer on. Especially the computer gives me almost endless fun. I need more time where I can sit doing nothing I suppose? I am over 50 with no lady friend. My excuse is eczema trouble. Can any members help?

sounds like your brain is stimulated a lot, maybe you can switch gears and do more physically challenging things, exercise is a great thing for your body (check with your doctor if needbe first). even just standing up and walking can be beneficial. add a walkmen with Bible tapes and you won't feel lonely :)

if you are a doer anyway, let that energy be put for Jesus, print up some Gospel tracts and see who you can share them with :)

You sound just like me, always on the go :D - personally I wouldn't have it any other way. I couldn't sit around and do nothing.

If it bothers you, try some relaxation exercises, or get a massage or something that require you to be still for a bit, but then you could get back to what you enjoy and are staying busy with.

Are you stressed or bothered that you are always doing something?

Have you ever tried the relaxation exercises where you tense each muscle group then relax them? You could prolly google to find exactly how to do it. I do these exercises occasionally when I just can't completely relax. It works wonders.

Another good way is to pray until you fall asleep. That works well too. :)

Remove all the distractions. I had to remove them all in order to save myself.

Sometimes it is just good to turn it all off and go for a walk. Disconnect from all the distractions of life and put God first. When you do that, the rest will fall into place. Trust me on that.
