  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am just tired of the word no in my life. God lifts me up, but there is only so much no I can take. My heart is tired and weary, I despair of seeing good for me. I can help others to be uplifted, but not it seems myself. I am tired and lonely and do not wish to sin. But I am very weak right now. I cannot understand how God would make me such a man who desires the love of a woman and yet never gets a true taste of love. I cannot see God as being that cruel yet my life leads me that way. It is very confusing.

I would as Jesus did, gladly give my life for Terri Schiavo right now. What I don't understand is why my heart that is that giving is despised. I have always been caring, maybe a fool and an ass at times too, but giving also.

I have asked to be closer to God, that was the most dangerous prayer of my life. I have good days and bad days now, I know God is working in me. But why is there no fruit. All I can see as a fruit is the work I do on this website to pray for and uplift others. I need something I can hold. Maybe that too is a vain request, I just know it is from the heart. I don't even think Simon the Sorcerer was as vain in his request.

I just don't get it. I felt God leading me one way. I don't understand how I could be lead to believe something good was to be mine. And now I have all these feelings of worthlessness again. For if I was worth something I would have something. I am almost 30, and feel like such a loser for approaching that birthday with very little to show for my years. In my head I know I should be thankful and hopeful, but my heart is really down.

I have tried to give to God all my desires, but as strong hearted as I am that is very hard for me. I wish I could surrender easier, but God has made me strong.

Also I have tried to overcome pornography, no results. Just this week I spent 94 dollars on videos and magazines. I have tried setting captives free and could not get results. I guess I am not good at programmed type devotionals. One of my other failings, I guess. I despair of ever being free.

I think I now need to go to another website and do what I can to spread the love of Jesus. I thank you for your prayers. I am thinking of beginning a fast. Today has just come down kind of bad for me. Like I said, I have bad days.

God loves you!!! Yes He loves you so very much ... even in your sin God loves You... He knew you would fail... He knew you would never be perfect... For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God..

He loves You.. just the way you are ..... right now.. He died for you... but He also came that You might have the abundant life.. We cannot have the abundant life without first coming to the one who can give it to us .. And we cannot have it ..... until we have it..

Our sin blocks that abundance from flowing but not when Christ has come into our heart and cleansed us from all sin. He wipes away all our sin and sets us free!!

If you focus on Christ's love.. on what Christ has done for you and accept what He has done for you .. your heart will let it go of its own accord and tears of healing will stream down your face for you will be free.. You will easily give up all your sin and want Jesus to wash you clean...

Look up at the cross.. into the face of Your dying Saviour.. and see that you cannot come away a changed man... Do not keep going off to give something away that you don't yourself have but find the source that never goes dry and drink deeply..

Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

John 7:38
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”

Dear God, I pray for silent poet.. Give him a new song for his silence.. May he not rest until he is at the foot of the cross.. Let him be filled with the joy of salvation and let repentance flow through him and Your blood and forgiveness wash his heart clean... and grant unto him the gift of righteousness for Your names sake.. For when You come to fill Him with the living water he will thirst no more.. and no sin will have a hold on his life.. And he will run to share this same message with all whom he sees... Bless him for he is searching for the truth and the truth will set him free.. AMEN

Dear Father, I pray for Silentpoet now, I lift him up to You. Help him to be still in You, to know Your still small voice. Hold him close to You Lord. I confess I pray this also for myself; a lot or some of the despairings which Silentpoet expressed, are mine as well. So from my own weakness I pray for this man who has been so very very candid and honest. I pray that you will guide him to what next step to take, to deal immediately with the habit he described. Deliver him from it Lord and show him what step of wisdom to take; what materials to destroy, what places or people to avoid, etc. Empower him by Your spirit and also help him to receive Your power; let him learn to become like a little child with his receiving. I pray many of these same things for myself. Most of all I pray dear Father that Silentpoet may come very close to Your bosom and find in You his all in all in all in all. May he fall at his feet and worship You. In Jesus' name, amen.

I pray for you SilentPoet. I pray for the depression and I pray that if you died tonight that you would know whether you would spend eternity in heaven or in hell. I pray that the love of God would be greater in your life than depression, and I pray for the strength of GOD to flow through you that you may do what God requires of you.

I am praying.

I found this prayer request of yours after I wrote the PM in response to your entry in the "Pray for the person above you" chain....
You reminded me of a post I was in last year...so I went and looked it up to see if it still existed and it did. Here's a copy of it FOR YOU, dearest friend! I still mean every word:

This made TONS of sense to me. I married for the first time in my life at the age of 32. I prayed and begged and watched and waited and became sort of 'hyper-vigilant' myself in that search (I hope you don't mind my use of that term...I don't even know if it is a real word....) :help: was all I prayed for in the search for the PERFECT man, chosen for me by God.

He did answer me, finally. On many occasions since I have wondered WHAT He could have been thinking to have answered me in the way He has....heheehee:blush: . That is not sarcasm, but real humilty born of the pairing with a partner whose secrets have risen up to slay me time and time again since that wedding day. Secrets only to me, not to the Lord. Yet, I KNOW STILL, if I am honest, that we were BUILT for each other. No other person on planet earth can I imagine would EVER put up with my relationship with God like this man does. No other man on earth would put up with my artistic eccentricities like this man does. No other man on earth would be strong enough to cause me to pause and reconsider the virtue of my stance on every given day like this man does. No other man on earth would DRIVE me by the moment to the Lord like this man does. No other man on earth would require the laying down of my life for another like this man does. And, when being my servant, my chef, my maid, my protector, my handyman, my lover, my solidity, my root in this world, my temperance, my inspiration and my prayer partner..... no one brings me to my knees like this man does. All, of course, meaning no human man, for Christ exceeds ALL these qualities and many more for me.

The most IMPORTANT thing that waiting for my husband taught me, and continues to be the Truth that has sustained me next to him ever since, is the indominable relationship that I built with the Lord during that wait. On at least a million occasions since our wedding, I have had to choose to put the Lord first over my husband; to lean on the Lord in place of my husband; to weep with the Lord instead of my husband; to know the Lord's voice more keenly than my husband's: etc.

My marriage is an extreme example, that you should know. Yet, to some degree, I believe, in all marriages, the need to be a Child of God above and beyond being a husband or a wife, is crucial. Both for yourself, for them and for your children. God's voice need be present in both partners to complete the whole.

On top of learning of the immeasurable value of my personal and indivisable relationship with Jesus since marrying, I have learned that that relationship was forged in those years when He WAS my Husband. Not knowing the enormity of the reasons that would require the great solidity that He had distilled in the furnaces of loneliness during that search. The second thing I have learned, before and since marriage, that continues to grow on a momentary basis inside the temple in my heart, in His Throneroom, at His feet is......I Trust Him. He KNOWS me better than I ever have or ever will on this earth. He knows what it takes to love me better than any understanding I may gain. He knows the blessings He wishes to pour over me, the blessings He wishes to pour through me and the cost of all of these. He has paid to accomplish these. A cost to which no wait, or loneliness, or frustration or confusion that I bear will ever measure.

Marriage can and regularly DOES, to some degree or another, require the death of ourselves for another persons well-being to be acquired. Some deaths are small and less costly, and some are huge by our measure. Only He knows how to prepare you for the partner of His choosing in His time. Learn His voice, His heart, His mercy, His joy, His patience, His sorrow, His hugs and His tears....in so doing, you ready yourself for His presence in your partner. When the day comes where the illusions of 'happily ever after' give way for a moment or a season, learn to find Him in your partner's heart and spirit and words and touch....because your partner may need you to find Him for them....and they for you. Know Who it is you seek as your First Love and the straight path for Your Lord's Will will be paved.

I tend to get windy, I know. Yet, your request so touched me, that I wanted to make an effort to share some comfort upon your heart's greatest hope in this. May that He quicken ANY word that comes truly of Him in this reply and encourage your spirit on your journey.

Love from above, Shachah

I pray you do not leave this site unless it is the direction of the Lord. Wait a little longer...you have shared deep persoanl things and the brethren are praying for you. Give God time to answer their prayers.

This weekend is a sensitive time. We remember the crucifixion of our Lord...we also see in our nation a woman being allowed to die and it seems we could stop it...life is not on our control...nor always pleasant.
Wait on the Lord...let patience work a little longer.

Give the Lord time to minister to your heart's desires and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

We will be remembering the resurrected Christ in a few hours!

Silentpoet, hugs for you! None of us are perfect, we all have our bad days and you have given a lot to many people here. If another forum can help you in your walk more, then move on, the Lord will be with you there. As to the problems, we have a forgiving Lord, who if we turn and ask, will forgive. A slip is not forever, get up again and say sorry, then continue on your walk, with eyes focused on the Lord who in His death, has overcome all things.
Praying for you!

Father, I pray for silentpoet, that he'll see evidence of You working in his life, and working through him to help others. I see my own struggles & concerns mirrored in his words, Lord, and I pray that Your will may become visible to us, as a light guiding us into Your presence. I know that we're strengthened through trials, Lord, but it can be so discouraging. Help us face these trials, and help us see the victories we have, as well as the times we fail. Give us the strength to resist temptation, and give silentpoet a taste of Your presence, so that he's encouraged in his own walk with you.

You know, I am likely to be crucified on the spot for this response, and, here goes: ( I qualify the whole thing as,"in my humble opinion" )

I think burying yourself, hiding from your pain, and isolating with ‘porn’ is destructive! Practically every single 29 year old man, and single woman for that matter, is PREOCCUPIED with sex! That’s normal, if you ask me. But, it's excessive use of porn that can be addictive, in my opinion; the use of women as objects for pleasure alone without the complications of relationships; women who don’t even connect love and sex.

It's all unnatural for a woman to turn off her feelings, heart, to perform this way. You guys don't even respect these women for hardening themselves so against their own feelings toward initimacy! Do you really think they can turn love off and on? If you turn it off often enough it becomes harder and harder to turn it back on and leave it on.... The very definition of women to most men is a safe harbor of love, trust, companionship and inimate moments. "Not the kind of girl you'd marry," many of you say. You wouldn't trust them to be satisfied or faithful with you, for one. You wouldn't trust them to raise your children well....and if you think you would, wait until you have kids and see how your opinions and liberality there would change! Do you think you can turn love on for some people and not others...will they be able to turn to love your kids? You know, as our understanding and experience of love grows in Jesus, we as a group(Christains), expect a little more of love in those we 'yoke' with as a result.

It’s another “drug” to have [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], you know(?) IF the idea is to escape the pain of real life complications. Our brain secretes a natural neural transmitter that causes euphoria and pain-dulling sensations during [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse].

Porn, in my opinion, is all about AVOIDING relationships while still getting the "ultimate high" ([bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]) without doing the ‘work’ of relationships!!! The more someone uses that “drug” the more they hinder their own growth and skill development in relationships. ALSO, anger and disappointment seem to increase the more you have certain repetitive ‘failures’ in real life relationships, for all of us. That anger and disappointment is supposed to drive us to get answers to our lacking in skills. I think a growing escape into porn is an easy fix for that for many people.

-be aware that, in my opinion, there is a big difference between the use of ANYTHING and an obsessive excess with it, porn included.

Temperance (self control) IS a fruit of the Spirit, you know that. The Lord can and will help you with any form of excess or habitual falling or weakness when You ask Him. Though, a need to forgive yourself and receive His forgiveness for your weaknesses is an essential component to this process. Addiction is addiction, no matter what the "anesthesia" of choice.

For the sake of the prepartion for your future wife's arrival, I pray that you learn to do without the instant gratificaton with the porn and work on the interpersonal skills that will make you attractive to her. Like learning about the women who are a little harder to get near to, because they are looking for certain intimacy(emotional) skills in you. Women who would be faithful, loyal, comfortable in their own skin, put value in love as a verb and are able to teach these same kinds of important skills to your daughters and sons one day. Trust me, men with the 'moves' in bed, don't last a week if they don't know forgiveness, mercy, charity, trust, kindness, compromise, self confidence, leadership(well a number of these) and most of all love. That's a hard list to ace, but ANY woman can be wooed into a great sexual relationship by a guy who can do all that. And, trust me, I've seen enough porn to know that you are NOT learning this stuff there!

I know, this all sounds kind of candy-butted. My son, only 4 years younger than you, gets frustrated because he wants a certain kind of woman as a wife and can't seem to find her, either. He talks VERY OPENLY with me about the ones he meets. And he doesn't even bring home the kind that are no work at all. He kind of occupies until she comes with dating, and he thinks he has found her many times...the more women he tries the less confident he is that she will show up. He blows through girls at a clip. I know that it is very hard to find the right one. Especially now that girls are so much less reserved. THEIR own lack of reservation has caused them to learn less of the skills you guys are looking for.

SO, I know you probably know a lot of that 'little sermon' above, already. But, the porn is definitely at cross-purposes with your wish to have a woman in your life. It's just too damn easy to avoid the pain on the way to the pleasure with porn. Anything worth having usually involves, work, discomfort, pain or all three, right, no news flash? So you gotta weigh it out...stow the instant grat and suffer into the skills you need for the 'woman goal'....or stow the 'woman goal' and play with the instant grat. Your call.

You have to trust God. He is a GOOD God. He probably wants you to be fruitful and multiply or at least have a woman as a helpmate. I don't think He is unkind. He places a desire to be coupled in people He hopes to couple. (a personal unprovable opinion) HE already knows who she is! He does need your cooperation to prepare you for her...and you do not have to prepare in your strength...but, you do have to ask for rememberance to lean on His!

This is my prayer for you, that you be brought into remembrance of His temperance and strength available to you in the Spirit and to walk in His will until you find her one day. Not gonna lie, marriage is WORK! I f you start studying now, you will be more prepared for the days ahead. That's EMOTIONAL work I'm talking about. Put some muscles on your heart, in Him, for His Glory. amen

I TRULY HOPE that the Lord's breath be manifest somewhere in this wordy reply for you, dear, dear one.

What I don't understand is that God gave me a strong heart that will not quit and then asks me to give up. I try, but I just can't give up. I have at the least tried to offer up my desires to God. I try to trust also, but trust is very hard for me due to an incident of childhood abuse and other things that have happened in my life. I do hope, but it seems like each new hope is just a new stumbling block. I don't trust good things coming my way. And my more recent failures are reminders of that. I am confused about God as a result. I don't understand a Being who would make me so, then deny me the things He tells me are good.

I'll tell you the most confusing incident. I was strongly lead into a day of prayer and fasting. I mean a prayer for a specific thing was on my lips almost constantly. The prayers started before I got to sleep and I almost could not get to sleep for praying. It started back up when I awoke. By my count, the longest I went without prayer that day was maybe 5 minutes. And even then I was trying to serve others as God would have me serve. And since that day everything has gone against answering yes to that prayer. Why lead me into prayer only to say no, seems kind of pointless to me. I know I grew closer to God, at least for that day, but afterwards when everything goes against me I drift farther away. I know God does not lie, yet that day and the results seem to say otherwise. It has left me very confused. For in that constant prayer seemed to be a promise from God. Yet every event after has gone against me. At least in the limited area. In other areas I have been blessed in some ways. So I guess you can see my confusion and despair.

I do have a better understanding of some things and am not as downhearted. At least at the moment despair is being held back. Right now I would say that any down feelings are more a bland melancholy. In some ways that is worse.

I am thankful for all the prayers and advice. Keep them coming.

Thank you for sharing more of yourself here silentpoet. It will help us all pray for you. The Lord can heal those trust issues. I was also thinking of Israel coming out of Egypt...things got considerably worse before they got better.

But, He still delivered them from bondage. It is not a sign that God is against you. I will keep praying.

silentpoet,

I can't help but notice how the more you engage your pen the more you sound like my son. I really meant those 2 posts above, though they got a bit preachy and long. I hope you plowed through them to find something, anything, in them. It's kind of the kind of conversations I have with my son, though he is there to challenge and crosscheck me. I didn't mean to come off so motherly.

I just feel your pain so deeply and pray that you will remain receptive to the Lord.

One of the biggest challenges to the kind of 'quickened' days that you describe above is the day after...and the hope to understand(believe it or not). We want to see so badly that we look more at that day than at the one we are living and at the Lord that might have answers for the picking. Please remain open to the Lord's Spirit as He tries to render meaning from that day for you. I know how hard it is, cause I was in a similar place in my
can't find my PLACE post.

Praying for the Lord's Spirit to take Dominion over your confusion and despair, for His glory.

Lord please be with Silentpoet and uplift him to you and that you will put your arms around him as he needs to know that you make things possible and that he needs to know that and with your power and wisdom, deal with what he needs to deal with not by himself but by you by his side. In your name amen!
