  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I haven't been around for the past couple of days because once again (and there have been many times) I have turned my back on my faith. I don't know why I fall into Satan's trap so many times, but I fear that one day I may fall for good.

We all fall, but remember, "the saints are just the sinners who fell down and got back up." The closer you are to God, (thus, the more of a threat you are to Satan) the more Satan attacks you and tries to bring you down. Never give up! We're here for you. :) You're definitely in my prayers!
God bless you and Pax Christi!

Yes, good post Angela. The saints were excellent models of what it means to be human; through there shear will power, they got back up after every fall, dusted of their shoulders, went to confession, and eventually moved on from that vice. Through God they were made more than conquerers. But before they rose to the heights of Christians perfection, they had to taste the depths of our weak human condition and total abandonment.

Anyway, just know that we are here for you Adam. You're welcomed to PM me if you want to talk in private.

May the Lord give you His peace!

I am hoping to go to vigil mass tonight, for the Feast of Mary Mother of God . . .

I will offer prayers for you . . . :)

Hold on . . and trust God to keep you . . .

AT . . .can I ask how deep or strong your faith regarding Mary is and her role in the Church? I ask as entrusting yourself to her care is truly giving yourself into her safe keeping . . .

Satan wishes that we fear . . . for there is no fear where perfect love reigns . . . Of course, he does not wish for perfect love, or even love that comes anywhere near perfect love, to reign in our hearts, for perfect love casts out fear . .
(2Ti 1:7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

(1Jo 4:18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

I think all of us here can safely say we have not yet been made perfect in love. . . :)

We cannot trust in our own ability to keep us from falling away . . . we cannot have confidence in our own efforts, our own self, to remain true . . . For even the great and wise among us, even if they think they are solely relying on Christ, may in actuality be relying on themselves . .. and God will allow them to fall, to reveal to them their pride they had hidden even from themselves . ..

It is humility to rely on another to help keep you, to keep for you what God has given you . . . and this is why I ask about Mary . . .

One of the things that really struck home with me when I read DeMontfort's True Devotion to Mary was about this very issue . . .and that, how, if we choose not to rely on ourselves, but give ourselves and all the graces God gives us into her safe keeping, to keep for us, they are never lost . . .

I do not know where you are at concerning Mary, but if I may be so bold as to encourage you to entrust yourself to her . . for I have found that when you do so, the burdens and fears such as you have described begin to lift . . :)

This does not mean we do not fall . . .but it does mean that even when we do, we have Mary's care and intercession . . .and that is a lot!

God be with you, bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand. :)

Peace in Him!

Thank you for your prayers.
Yes I do have devotion to Mary, not as much as I should. But thank you for pointing out that I must rely on her intercession. When I am taking refuge within her sorrows I am safe, it is when I come out that the storm takes me away.

:)

Have you read DeMontfort's True Devotion to Mary yet? Another shorter work of his is The Secret of Mary . . .very wonderful . . . and if you have not read either yet, or it has been some time, may I recommend that you read one or both, for I think his words will encourage you, both in your devotion to Mary and in your spiritual walk with Mary . ..

:)

Adam , you are a young man and just for caring and working at it that is a long way ahead of most guys your age. Don't let yourself get down. Sanctification is a lifelong process and there will be a lot of stumbles and back steps along the way, just as long as you keep moving forward and keep your eyes on the prize.

God bless you

Adam,
I'll keep you in my prayers. Remember, we have a God who is forgiving when we fall, if we get up and ask for his help. One of the gretaest sources of help is the sacraments- communion and confession. In confession, you can tell the priest your difficulties without fear and receive the grace and blessing that will help. Remember Jesus told us that in this world we may have troubles, " but be brave, I have overcome the world."
You'll be in my prayers.

You are in my prayers too Adam, Is there anything specifically which you are having a problem with? Doubts can generally be become less of doubts through intellectual backing and I am sure the OBOB intellegencia would be able to give such intellectual support to any theological issues you might be having problems with.
