I need some advice


I have been a Christian maybe 1 and a half years, I just graduated from High School(barely). I am now attending a bible school, but because of my background, it is hard for me to make friends.
It isn't other peoples fault, it is mine. I really don't have any hobbies, I am open to anything, but I just don't have much to talk about because all I used to do was go to parties, get drunk, get high and everything else that was fun for a time.
Now I have to change myself completely, I can't hang out with old friends because they will bring me down and I will do the same things again. So I don't have very many people I can relate to and leaving those old activities out, leaves me with nothing to do. When I was my old self, I was really outgoing, funny, popular, fun to be around, but that has changed because I don't really know what Christians do for fun, and what I did in my past is really all I know.
I need some good christian hobbies to replace with my old ones, but I can't think of any. I need some good Christian friends.
If you guys have any advice for me, or websites to go to, books to read, or any encouragement from people who can relate I would greatly appreciate it.

LOL, ya know, I have about the same problem. I am used to drive by's and street fights. But other than that I have no hobbies. I suppose it would be good for us to find REAL christian friends and just tag along with them lol? Hard to find the real thing these days. Sry if it didn't help but I just wanted to say u are not alone.

What makes my hobbies "Christian hobbies" is that I'm a Christian who has them as hobbies. Transform the world around you. Don't go looking for a bit that's already Christian; someone already did that part. If you play music, play it to God's glory. If you write, write things that you think glorify God.

gzus, you have to relax!!! Being Christian doesn't mean you must stop being who you ARE!!! Yes, the bad things are past but what you must realize is Christians are simply people. We have found a close, intimate relationship with our Savior Jesus but that doesn't mean we stopped living and having fun!!! Look around CF. You will see people interested in all SORTS of things! Peruse the forums and I bet you will find something that sparks your interest! Some of us love to write and we have a varied group within that sphere! From the rpg writers to the poets! Some of us are artists and we are learning new ways to use our talents for Him.
You can be outgoing and funny as a Christian too, dear one! Look at Jesse Duplantis! www.jdm.org Get some of his tapes, you will learn about Jesus and have a GOOD time doing it! You must relax and stop being on edge. Jesus loves you just as you ARE!!! If there are things HE wants changed then by all means pray about them and work on changing them. However, don't let a 'person' ruin the beautiful person Jesus created you to be, by giving you a lot of misguided man-made rules and regulations. Always use the Bible as your guide. Jesus came to set the captives FREE. There is therefore now NO condemnation in them which are in Christ Jesus! My favorite Christian saying is: 'Christians are not perfect, just forgiven!!!' Keep your eyes on Jesus and trying to please Him and you will be fine.
Relax and be yourself! We are all different! That is what makes it so amazing is watching our Master work at putting us together into a sort of symphony of believers, each doing their own part and no part better than any other, but all necessary! If we were all the same that would be a terribly boring symphony with only one identical note!!! Instead we are all different and yet Jesus puts us together to compliment one another and it's wonderful!! You are fearfully and wonderfully made our Lord has said. What an amazing thing the Lord does when a body of believers comes together to learn, work and encourage one another!!
Seize hold of your personal relationship with Jesus and just be yourself!

I really don't get out much as well. But I also have a 9 year old full time to take care of. I really only have one friend. We have been friends since high school. (about 15 years now). Back then we would party together, drink together and all sorts of things. Back in high school I hung around with lots of people that weren't good for me. I still remain friends with this one because she accepts me for who I am. She comes over quite a bit. We play board games, chat, watch our reality shows. LOL

I could still probably go to parties (with the exception of drinking tho; my choice). Hange out and have a good time. I love going to the movies, crocheting, counter cross stitching. I also love these forums! For the most part, it is a great place to interact with fellow Christians!

Oh I know what you mean. My hobbies used to include drugs, alcohol, and breaking the law. I guess it takes some time after the old behaviors are gone, but you should in time develop kind of a "new personality". whereas partying used to be the center of ur world, an idol if u will, now God is and He will make known to you your talents and interests in time. you have to remember that you were in that other mindset for some time. Now God will clean you up, but it takes time and prayer!! think back to what you used to do for fun before ur rebellious days and maybe try and nurture those interests again. It took me a LONG time before the "real" me came out after i was cleaned up. After i was clean i didnt think i had a personality or interests, that or i was crazy because they kept changing. but now (5 yrs later), i am far more comfortable with the me i denied for so many yrs in my self destructive days....God bless......
