I have been a Christian maybe 1 and a half years, I just graduated from High School(barely). I am now attending a bible school, but because of my background, it is hard for me to make friends.
It isn't other peoples fault, it is mine. I really don't have any hobbies, I am open to anything, but I just don't have much to talk about because all I used to do was go to parties, get drunk, get high and everything else that was fun for a time.
Now I have to change myself completely, I can't hang out with old friends because they will bring me down and I will do the same things again. So I don't have very many people I can relate to and leaving those old activities out, leaves me with nothing to do. When I was my old self, I was really outgoing, funny, popular, fun to be around, but that has changed because I don't really know what Christians do for fun, and what I did in my past is really all I know.
I need some good christian hobbies to replace with my old ones, but I can't think of any. I need some good Christian friends.
If you guys have any advice for me, or websites to go to, books to read, or any encouragement from people who can relate I would greatly appreciate it.
- God Bless

Well my profile says atheist because I am an atheist! Are you asking me why I'm an atheist? We should probably discuss that in another thread I suppose. . . ;)

Minnesota - there should be some pretty cool outdoor stuff there. Oh - you should also try http://www.meetup.com. This is just an internet site for people with similar interests/hobbies to meet up at coffee shops and stuff. Just put in your zip code and see what's available. It's free too!

G, it's great you're getting a new support system and friends behind you. Very important. Christians do pretty much the same things as other people: sports, hiking, restaurants and clean movies, dinner parties, martial arts, current events, culture, art, I know some people are into art and painting, writing and screen writing...a friend of mine and I are having an anti-superbowl party this year! :D

 Greetings gzus,
May I welcome you to the forum and I pray that you will find what you are looking for,
From your post I assume that you are still a young guy and certainly a child in the faith, one thing that touched my spirit was that you have nothing to talk about?
Your testimony and the change that HAS happened surely is something to talk about, has your fellow students the same life changing experience?, you don't know?
Conversation is the key that can open many doors which can be both fulfilling and fruitful, the only trouble is that no one wants to put the key in the lock first.
The Holy Scriptures tell us that we should not fear but to renew our strength, have faith brother, stand on the word of God and GROW straight.
When you mature then you can face your old friends, the love of your new friends will help you mature.
How to make friends, TALK on a subject that both parties know, try JESUS.

dude, I am knowing how you feel, I have not too long been out of my wild partying daze and am know finding my self a tad dull. However, it is not that we become square, we just tone down what we do. I found that beign out and out wild ended up beign detrimental, but going to parties is not. There is fun to be had going partying and having a laugh, not getting smashed. IT means that you can actually take stuff in, remember what you did etc. I used to hang out with poeple who got well smashed now I hang out with peeps who just have a laugh. No more vomiting!! :o

Now I won't watch Pornos but if a move (like the last samurai or something along those lines) are out I will go see them even though they are rated R so you might want to explain that a little.

But I always like to hike, play pool, stuff like that. You don't always have to be bad to have a good time.
