Alfred Tennyson was a Poet Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland back in the 1800s during much of Queen Victoria’s reign and remains one of the most popular British poets. One day he was summoned into Queens Victoria’s private quarter who was the most powerful woman in the world at that time. She was going through some very dark tough days, in fact, she was really thinking about abdicating her throne and so she invited this poet laureate who was renowned for his wisdom and spoke to him expressing some very powerful, deep emotions, fears, and anxiety. After she finished speaking, the poet laureate (Alfred Tennyson) looked her right in the eyes and said to her:
“Thou art Royal, therefore Endure… Thou art Royal, therefore Endure.”
Even as Christians, it is easier to run, but Trusting God and fleeing is beneath the dignity of the Royal blood that flows through our vein. Whatever you are about to run away from, remember this: “
Thou art royal, therefore endure”. If you have reached the end of your rope, tie a knot on it. God will give you strength, therefore do not flee!
There is power in praising the name of the Lord but there is even far greater power being able to
praise the name of Jesus right in the midst of your pain and confusing circumstances. Let me suggest ten reasons for having joy all the time, regardless of how painful your circumstances may be:
- You can rejoice always in God’s righteous character.
- You can rejoice always in God’s redeeming love.
- You can rejoice always in the Holy Spirit’s comforting ministry to you.
- You can rejoice always in the gifts and the blessings of the Holy Spirit.
- You can rejoice always in God’s promise to work all things together for good.
- You can rejoice always in the anticipation of your coming reward in heaven.
- You can rejoice always in the prayers God has answered in the past.
- You can rejoice always in the gift of God’s Word.
- You can rejoice always in God’s ever-present fellowship with you.
- You can rejoice always because God will be glorified even through your difficult circumstances.
Though your rivers may be running dry, God oceans are not. Though your star may be hiding from view, remember this is the time the heavenly sun shines brighter. Money would have wings and fly, friends are going to get tired of you and leave you, families would let you down, jobs would be lost but ALL of the Lord remains forever.
Our power and strength is in the Lord and not in our success, net worth statement, or savings. God’s security and strength abides forever, God’s stability is immovable, God’s comfort is not seasonal, God’s power in unconquerable, God’s love is unaffected, God’s compassion is inexhaustible, God’s shield is imperishable, God’s peace is unexplainable.
God did not promise us days without pain, laughter without sorrow, Nor sun without rain. But HE did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. Till He returns or calls you home, here in the Power of Christ You'll stand.
