Michelina I see! Ok so it basically means that if one is born Moslem and is believing in the ONE TRUE God and leads a good life but never has the chance to hear the gospel they may also attain salvation through the grace of God?

I get this in a way but in a way it freaks me out mainly because of the new twist Moslems have taken. Some of these people cannot be worshipping the ONE TRUE GOD!
Thats why its best to leave such things to our God :)

But this dosn't mean we should stop spreading the truth . :)

As far as the Jewish and Messianic people are concerned I have been surprised lately about some VERY different views that are among them. They fight amongst themselves as to what they should or do believe. I was reading a bunch of stuff over in the Messianic section of this message board. I have trouble understanding the whole thing to be honest with you! There are so many things I don't understand and it makes my head spin. I am really glad I have all of you here to talk with about these things.

awwwwww isnt that a little unfair Christy? We usually dont fight over there, its quite peacefull but occasionally we sharpen each others countenance so to speak.

Shalom and G-d bless

Michelina has this right...!!! Read further down the entire section. I got lambated for this entire thing over at christianity.com - the section respects their monotheism, describes that what thruth there is in their religion is good and we should regard what thruth there is (e.g. monotheism) as "preparation" for receiving the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Just as with scripture - always read above and below until the context makes sense and you can answer basic questins like "What is the topic and relevance etc of this teaching and passge."

If i am not mistaken this refers to a Vat II document. It is not saying that Muslims are absolutely saved but a portion below this does deal with the fact that God's grace cannot be restricted by us. That someone - who through "no fault of their own" is ignorant of the Gospel but receives and accepts/cooperates with God's grace it is possible they may be saved. I think this is an attenpt to deal with that objection we hear regarding "What about the person in subsaharan Africa who has never been visited by a missionary - are they going to hell?"

Anyway - hope that helps... if I am mistaken it is only my take on things...

God Bless

John

I have just started studying the Catechism and I am a little worried because I do not understand this at all. I hope someone can shed some light on what this means ...
both Isaac son of Abraham .... Jacob .... 12 patriarchs .... Jesus .... us
Ishmael son of abraham by the bond servant ..... Mohammed ..... moslems

there are moslems and jews who recognize Jesus as messiah , we have fellowship with ( believe as we do ) ; and those who are descendants of abraham ( allah , Jehovah , and God ... same God , different names ) all are potential heirs of the promise , when accept Jesus

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330 some of what is in the torah & quoran is similar to what is in the bible .... some basic tenants same / similar

Rom 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

It seems pretty clear in meaning but I pray I am missing something.
