...I am making. I decided to come here, for some advice and stuff. I was thinking of making a forum about making music, where everybody wanting to make music joined, and everybody who was a guitarist, could send in guitar sounds, and everybody who wanted to sing, could send in samples of them singing, or people who can write lyrics could write lyrics and send them in. And then people could vote for who did the best guitar, and who was the best singer, etc. and then they could make a song together, and everybody could keep voting for every individual song, until we made a CD. I haven't made the forum yet, and I still need members and admins. The forum isn't neccessarily a christian forum, or atleast I have not decided it will be yet. I need advice about the rules, and if anybody wants to be a member or admin, you can be that if you want. I just really need advice and stuff... Thanks.

It's a good idea, but for it to be successful, you'll need to advertise at other forums where your target audience is.

I agree that this is a very excellent idea as well. I also agree with Sanctifi3d - how you target your audience in the beginning stages is CRITICAL. You should really be specific, and just to get started, I would suggest being rather narrow. I say this because you would want things as simple as possible while you form this - this will be complicated enough as it is. Especially with the elaborate software programming challenge your concept would demand.
For a starting idea, check out Garageband.com if you haven't already done so. I personally like your "match up" concept with the voting; Garageband doesn't have this. Garageband is secular; the demographics are roughly 90% in the 19 to 29 year old age range that are mostly male and mostly rock. If you are traveling the secular path, that is probably what to expect, which is NOT entirely representative of the commercial market. Also, if you are going secular, be ready for a lot of feedback that is not at all sympathetic with a Christian perspective. Song voting from this demographic would be very dissimilar from a Christian demographic. You would have an unwieldy animal to deal with, and I don't know what your skill in this area would be.
I would suggest starting Christian, say "Christian Ballads" or "Praise and Worship" (or both) or something like that, get all of the difficulties with the software ironed out and get a more solid idea of what you are in for, then expand the categories and on into the secular realm.
I do like your concept, but PLEASE stay simple at this point because I would really like it to succeed so that I could participate!

Sorry I took so long to reply, I didn't think anybody would respond.
So, I don't really know how to do this. I mean, I kind of get the idea, I know how to make forums and I have in the past... but nothing like this. All I would need is to make a forum on proboards and set up the rules and everything. I would need lots of help. If any of you would like to help on this, please message me. I am not currently working on it... but I was thinking my brother could do it better, of course I would be helping too. My brother already knows a lot about music, he's trying to make his own music and has almost succeeded in making a CD. He's 29. The only problem is he doesn't really know anything about the internet. So, he could help with the actual music part of it and stuff, and I could do the forum and everything. I will make a forum, and you can join it, and be admin if you like, I need all the help I can get. I'm going to leave it empty once I make it, and once you join, I'll give you admin powers... then you can basically do whatever you want and help build the forum. Then, when my brother gets here, I'll talk to him, and he can tell me what to do and stuff.
