  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

which i think all agree we are in the end season
I'm not going to be so quick to agree. People have been saying we're in the end times for so long that in the early 80's people started saying we're in the end times of the end times. Soon they'll start saying we're in the end times of the end times of the end times! Why not focus more on God and what he wants us to do now and in the future while keeping in mind that he may not come back for some time or he may come back today.

there are a large handful of BIBLE prophecy that has came to pass that shows us that we are in the end season, israel becoming a nation in 1946 [ if i have the year right] when this happened according to the Bible this generation shall not pass before His comming, according to the Bible a mans life is at its best is to be 125 years if all went perfect, so according to the Bible the end, Christs return must be before 2071 according to the Bible, how much before and when no man knows, however when israel became a nation this put us in the end season, why is that important, this thread has shown its importance in the questian that has been asked, pertaining to two different Bible answers for two different times, it is important to know the seasons and that is not my opion but is what the Bible teaches us.if we reconize what season we are in we are able to know according to the Bible what to expect from the enemy. not knowing the season we are in, is no different than leaving ones lamp unattended and half full.

I was studying my Bible this evening, and came across a passage that I'm really having a hard time getting a grip on. Hopefully, someone here can help!

1Corinthians 14:34 and 14:35 state:

women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in church.

Please tell me! How is this relevant today? What knowledge am I supposed to glean from this? This really knocked me for a loop!

:help:
Hi Snickerdoodle,
You have picked a very controversial passage of scripture. It is one of those passages that most people seek to explain away rather than explain. The question is what would happen in a church if the Holy Spirit came in such power that everyone did exactly as they were supposed to in perfect harmony with Him?- or put it another way- What if there was a church where everyone was perfect? How would women behave? Would they really be silent? You can even broaden the question- Why is there no gospel of Mary?- Why were the apostles all men? I think modern people answer according to modern philosophy but the answer for any interpretation is found in God- not in Mankind's wisdom. I believe the Lord wants women to literally be silent so they can listen to Him and so they can let the men lead. The contradiction is that any woman who truly listens to God will become, under God, more voiciferous than most men as they will have a divinely appointed ministry...
