I Need Help Finding A Movie

I saw a movie when I was little and I completely forgot what it was called or who was in it. It was about these little robots that had the ability to fix broken objects very fast.

I remember one scene where a man takes his car keys and smashes them into pieces. Then a robot comes and fixes the keys.

I think the ending of the movie involved a dog whistle.... or something...

Does anyone know what I am talking about or am I making no sense?

yes Batteries not included... I have the movie and at the end the robots gather and rebuild the apartment complex from rubble.
wonderful movie

oh and the whistle was used to call a baby flying saucer robot.. that died but was saved by a large black man who fixed it.
