My sister emailed me and wants to know where in the Bible does it talk about homosexuality being wrong. I need exact verses here and she wants them soon. She lives with a gay man, (brother in law) and she wants him to know the verses.

Thanks for your help.

p.s. he really needs prayer too. he is very dark and just leading a bad life.

If this man is not a believer and is new to Scripture, I'd suggest trying these verses along with the ones given by Lollard from an NIV Bible, or another modern translation, so the man will understand more easily. KJV is a superb Bible, but is often not the best to witness with. I'd also suggest approaching the man in a loving way. If you just walk in and lay down the Bible and point to the Scriptures, then the witnessing opportunity may very well be lost. These men are constantly abraded with insults from society, and they clam up very quickly when they expect similar treatment. And, if not timed correctly, this will probably be received in a similar way. Maybe try getting on the topic of Christianity in general and start generally talking about church. Then ask if they have ever heard the Scripture regarding their lifestyle. Maybe, point to a place in your life first where you lived outside of the Law of the God and how you repented.

I pray that your sister is successful. God bless you both and her efforts.

The references of scripture that were given by Lollard are excellent referals dealing with the subject of homosexuality.

However, may I give you one suggestion if that person is not saved the referal to scripture will mean nothing to them. To show the love of Christ and the fact that we are all sinners and in need of Jesus may be the best witness. Showing the love of God for the lost makes the greater impact.

Once they come to know the Lord, then the Holy Spirit can deal with their heart and reveal to them what is right and just to live a Christian life pleasing to God.

This is just my personal thoughts. May God bless and I will surely hold you and your friend up in prayer.

If one wishes to turn this into a debate, please report the thread and ask it to be moved to General Theology. Otherwise, this thread will remain here.

In my opinion there is no reason to move this thread to another section. The young lady is simply concerened about her friends and their acquaintance. Thank you for understanding and please take time to pray about it. God bless.

I will pray for the situation. You have received good verse references, but I would only add this to the conversation:

The Bible calls ALL people, not just homosexuals, but all people to sexual purity and repentence. Those who struggle with other heterosexual impurity are also called to abstinence, repentence, and holy living. It doesn't just apply to homosexuals, but to all people. In the Orthodox view, homosexuality is wrong, but so is hetero sex before marriage, outside marriage, by yourself, etc... to you, your sister and her flatmate. I have seen former hetero folks turned Christian suddenly become holier than thou over this and they forget that their own repentence is far greater importance to God than dragging some poor sinner to his/her knees. This doesn't mean we have to condone, but I believe we heteros are called to the same standard.

Love,
Suzannah

I agree with you. I have only said that I would on the condition that someone would wish to turn this topic into a debate.
