I Need Advise On How You Would Explain To Someone If They Are Born Again???

I hope you agree that we need to advise others that come to CHRISTIAN ADVICE as GOD would have us to.

While many remain silent they are quick to advise another on just what GOD'S WORD says WITHOUT having it backed by GOD.

This is very serious because they are lost themselves and are guiding other souls to remain lost.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but it seems to me that you're concerned about the advice being given on the forum and the "spiritual credentials" of some people offering advice.
Now to be sure not every Christian here who posts advice is as conversant with the bible as they might be, and yes many people posting are very young in christ. However I believe God can and does use even those of the least knowledge and the least maturity to do his work.
I'm reminded of a story related by a visiting pastor at a course I was on, he told of a female pastor in the local vacinity who had lost the use of her legs for many years and been in a wheel chair. naturally many people had prayed for her healing over the years but to no avail, and sometime after she had accepted the wheelchair as part of Gods plan for her, she was miraculously healed by the prayer of a new Christian who was a few weeks old in his faith.

My concern here is that we render advise as to being BORN AGAIN ( SAVED, ANOINTED )that will help those walking up GOD'S PATH.

That was a very nice story you told us but it calls for a judgment:

This CERTAINLY could NEVER be backed up by GOD'S WORD. I will leave it at that unless you wish to go further on a new thread.

Let’s look at GOD'S WORD concerning counselors:


" Sirach Chapter 37

37:8. Every counsellor giveth out counsel, but there is one that is a counsellor for himself.

37:9. Beware of a counsellor. And know before what need he hath: for he will devise to his own mind:

37:10. Lest he thrust a stake into the ground, and say to thee:

37:11. Thy way is good; and then stand on the other side to see what shall befall thee.

37:12. Treat not with a man without religion concerning Holiness, nor with an unjust man concerning justice, nor with a woman touching her of whom she is jealous, nor with a coward concerning war, nor with a merchant about traffic, nor with a buyer of selling, nor with an envious man of giving thanks,

You can see by this it is GOD'S intent that we seek counsel from one that is well versed in the area you seek counsel.


This is the whole reason for this OP. How do we advice ( counsel ) one concerning being BORN AGAIN. ( SAVED, ANOINTED )


Now when we advise folks about the HOLY SPIRIT'S functions in our lives as a GUIDE, COMFORTER, COMUNICATOR, or TEACHER we MUST inform them of what is required of them to be ANOINTED by GOD with the HOLY SPIRIT so that they become a part of the KINGDOM of ALMIGHTY GOD. We are not able to use these functions of the HOLY SPIRIT without first being ANOINTED.


They MUST be aware that a commitment of their whole life is required.


My OP addressed what was the best way to advise other folks seeking advice as to being BORN AGAIN. I hope we will be able to keep this on track.

Well the way I understand it i.e. the way i've been taught, is that being saved and what you refer to as being anointed are two seperate items. And that a person is instilled with the Holy Spirit from the moment they are saved not from when they are anointed. (indeed there are many saved Christians who have been so for years and have not been anointed).

I believe that each Christian who genuinly puts faith in Jesus is saved, no matter how poor their response to being saved (i.e. how little or much of their life they do infact commit to God).

Are you saying this is wrong? because if so thats a big departure from what i've been taught.

Would GOD SAVE you and not provide HIS TEACHER so that you have to depend upon human teaching.

Being born again means dying to your old ways, means a change of heart (mind) and because of that change of heart (now being alive in Christ) theres a change of actions.

You will know if you were born again by your "fruits" (actions)... thats the only visible way. But it doesnt mean in anyway that you are saved by your actions. (Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? ..Read whole chapter Matthew 7)


Baptism by inmersion is so important because it shows go we are BURIED into the water, and then being RAISED with Christ, to walk in a newness of life.

Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6.

Yes that is correct, but do new CHRISTIAN folks really understand what it takes on their part to accomplish this. Many would feel that they should just not do this or that.


The question in this OP is how do we best advise a person so that they UNDERSTAND what they MUST do to become BORN AGAIN, SAVED, and ANOINTED.


Many are advised that all they MUST do is believe in JESUS and they are SAVED. Which is supported by GOD'S WORD in Acts 10:


" Acts
Chapter 10


43 To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name."


44 While Peter was still speaking these things, the holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the word. "


So in today's world many are under the impression that all that is required is to accept ( believe in ) JESUS.


But over time definitions have become modified so that words no longer give a complete meaning as used when JESUS walked this earth.


Lets look at the word " BELIEVE ". Today we think only that it means accept.


Let's look at the same word " BELIEVE " and see just how much it has changed:

So when we advise folks today we MUST also use the word " COMIT " along with the word " BELIEVE ".


When this is done there is UNDERSTANDING in today's use of words.

I think Wonderwaleye is making a great point. I was actually not taught in church when I was younger about the purpose of the Holy Spirit -- especially in Sunday School. I didn't really understand until I was a junior or senior in high school and I got baptized in 1999. That is about 5 years I was in the dark, and now it sometimes causes me to not understand why I made the choice for baptism. Sometimes I just know I was scared of Hell. We need to let children know the Holy Spirit's purpose. How much easier is it to learn when we have the faith of a child?

Yes this is important. But the real problem is many folks believe they receive this without making a commitment of their WHOLE life to GOD and GOD'S WILL so they will then be ANOINTED with the HOLY SPIRIT.

There are many folks that believe that all in required is to believe ( ACCEPTANCE ) in JESUS. This is not so.
