• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Ok...I did something that I can't go back and change. It happened a few months ago, and I have asked for the Lord's forgiveness, but i still feel like there is a hole there that cannot be filled. I have learned from my mistakes, but what should I do.

If that 'hole' that you are speaking of is where the person that passed away occupied.....you can expect it to remain with you. We don't forget the people that we care about.

Maybe you need to explain what you are talking about a little more, then I would understand what you're talking about. Feel free to pm me if you wish....I will answer you.

Dear Audra, the empty hole that you feel will never completely
go away, but it will feel smaller with time. When we lose a love
one only their body is gone from us, their spirit lives on through
our memories. I lost my husband, Buck, 3 years ago yet there
are still times when I miss him so much and the hole in my heart
that he occupied seems to widen again. I thank God that He
keeps me going and restores my peace.. I don't know what the
mistake was that you made, but be assured that all of us make
mistakes when we are going through dark times. It sounds like
you did the right thing by confessing it to God and seeking His
forgiveness. Now just trust him to fill that hole in your heart...

Hi, Audra,

It sounds as though you need to forgive yourself. My experience of this is that it is like forgiving anyone else: it starts with a choice, agreeing with Jesus 'I choose to forgive myself'. He once told me that if I did not do this, I was saying that what He did on the Cross was not enough for me to be forgiven. And it was, it is.

Do you want to chat about it? You're welcome to e-mail if it would help:

Many blessings,
