This is exactly the reasoning behind a few other sins as well, though I will not mention them so we can remain on topic. What many Christians have trouble understanding, or at least believing, is that sin is only sin because goes against God's Will or Purpose. So incest would be just fine as long as God has no rule against it? When did God ever make a rule against it? Incest would not in itself, be unacceptable on moral reasoning alone?
If god said nothing against it it,what makes incest a sin in the first place. indeed, modern society is devolped enough to relize that incest is a bad thing. The same is true with many other things that the bible seem to find perfectly fine but would be depraved by todays standard. Think of this,If there were only two of each animal on the ark that means that the offspring of those two animals had no one to mate with but their siblings or parents. thats alot incestThis is exactly the reasoning behind a few other sins as well, though I will not mention them so we can remain on topic. Not only Adam and Eve. When god wiped out the population of the earth a fresh brred of humanity came from Noah's sons.SuperMama said:Who the heck did Adam and & Eve's children marry and procreate with? Was there incest to begin with among siblings?
brotherly loveNot only Adam and Eve. When god wiped out the population of the earth a fresh brred of humanity came from Noah's sons.
Not really. They had wives. But it is still an incest.Im_a_theist said:brotherly love
Leviticus 18gnano said:Again, I would like to know if incest was ever "outlawed" by God? Why would it be wrong now if it alright back then?
6 No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD.
7 Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.
8 Do not have sexual relations with your fathers wife; that would dishonor your father.
9 Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your fathers daughter or your mothers daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.
10 Do not have sexual relations with your sons daughter or your daughters daughter; that would dishonor you.
11 Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your fathers wife, born to your father; she is your sister.
12 Do not have sexual relations with your fathers sister; she is your fathers close relative.
13 Do not have sexual relations with your mothers sister, because she is your mothers close relative.
14 Do not dishonor your fathers brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.
15 Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your sons wife; do not have relations with her.
16 Do not have sexual relations with your brothers wife; that would dishonor your brother.
17 Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her sons daughter or her daughters daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.
18 Do not take your wifes sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.

unrelated to the topic but i just thought i'd mention it
4 Peter began and explained everything to them precisely as it had happened: 5 I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6 I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air. 7 Then I heard a voice telling me, Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.
8 I replied, Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.
9 The voice spoke from heaven a second time, Do not call anything impure that God has made clean. 10 This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.
But I thought God was unchanging? Isn't sin sin whether it's written down or not? Isn't "absolute truth" absolutely true anytime, anywhere? Why did God allow and even require ppl to sin?incest was not mentioned as something to be avoided until the law was given.
Even Abraham was married to his sibling.
So God just decided one day that incest is now a bad thing? Isn't that a bit fickle? What happened to absolute truth? Are murder and rape going to be allowable in the future if God comes down and decides to change His mind about these issues?drstevej said:No crawfish ???
Glad those prohibitions were lifted in the New Testament (Acts 11).
