 hi all

It is my understanding when you decide to set up in this forum, you chose an icon that best fits you.

When I joint CF I chose one that befitted my (then) current denonination, and was only able to post my serious questions about various Biblical beliefs in the area for non christians, in the unorthodox theology threads.

Upon the decision to follow Jesus and allow being disfellowshipped and consequentially leave home to follow this path. I approached Erwin about changing names and moving within the Christian area of CF.

I still could not meet the criteria of the forum, but it was suggested that I should adopt the current icon I now have, in order that I could maintain positive feedback and fellowship with others.

It is my 'thoughts' about being thrown out, should I be backed into a corner about changing my icon to what ahs been suggested by another member. Not the admins placing pressure on me.

I love you guys all sticking up for me  and thank you all for your love and support while I get straight. But to be fair to any admin staff, it's me not them.

The issue, I think, is that if we move to a simpler Creed, such as the Apostle's Creed, the JW's and Mormons can be called "Christians", and many people consider them cults. Me, I don't really care. I think they're wrong on some theology, but I also think the Catholics, Calvinists, Baptists, Lutherans, Orthodox, Presbyterians, and Methodists are wrong on some theology. I am pretty sure I'm wrong on some theology, although I haven't figured out which parts yet.

I don't much care. I'd rather talk with people and have discussions with 'em than kick 'em out.

(Disclaimer: My church has no doctrine at all, so I'm obviously biased towards a fairly mellow approach.)

Yes...on minor points.

The issue, I think, is that if we move to a simpler Creed, such as the Apostle's Creed, the JW's and Mormons can be called "Christians", and many people consider them cults. Me, I don't really care.

The problem with the Mormons and JW's is VERY different from the problems within Christendom. JW's and Mormons are missing the major points! They are missing out on the very heart of Christianity...I don't know about them being cults but they certainly are different religions and therefore false and without hope.

It is not really about rejecting the creed, but in this instance not understanding what the details of the creed are, or in other words, what the various beliefs included in the creed mean.

Yes and that is truly unfortunate.

I'd be totally opposed.

No doctrine at all. We leave the question up to individuals to work out.

That said... The current policy is that we say "Nicene Creed", but obviously, we don't really enforce it; most of the users have never even read it.

I think there are a couple of other people who go to Quaker churches here.

The underlying concern is that, given fallible human understanding, no set of words assures correct doctrine. So why waste time arguing over words?

One thing we have to keep in mind. All statements of faith are adopted on faith. They all begin with "we believe" , and are filled with impossible to prove statements. Intellectual assent is not only not required, it's an impossible standard, not to mention, faith to accept is itself a gift.

So, James please stay and grow in faith, but don't expect a careful answer given here or there to be the key to understanding our creeds. They are statements of faith, taken on faith, a faith given as a gift from God.

Again, stick around, don't let this get you down.

When I first started coming here, there were no "Christians only" areas. But after we had a couple attacks by atheists and militant gays who totally spammed and flamed everything they could and posted obscene links and pictures, the rules were changed. Then because there were complaints that JWs and mormons were posting as Christians, the system of agreeing to the creed came to be.

I personally liked interacting with all kinds of people regardless of denomination or acceptance of Christ, but I understand how difficult it would be for the mods to keep everything sorted out if interdenominational or interfaith fighting started up all over again.

What mostly bothers me is simply that, in fact, we have more people who go to mainstream denominations, but do not accept the Creed, than we have ever had Mormons or JWs. I don't like a policy which isn't really what it says it is.

you will never ever have a creed that fits the label of 'christianity'
our only hope (thank God) is through Jesus Christ who gave us mere humans an easy way to Him.

Humans will always complicate the most simple words. Thats life. The more you try to tag people the longer the list.

Dear SonOfThunder,

You are facing tough times and rejection my brother, but don't give up. Jesus never gave up, in fact He gave everything He had when it seemed that everyone was rejecting Him!

Stand up for your beliefs. You say you love God but don't understand the Trinity? I don't see a sin there! Loving God is what He wants! Understanding will come in its time with reading the Word of God and asking questions.

I was born Jewish. I've been a Christian for three and a half years now. I understood even less of the Trinity when I confessed my sins and accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour than you do. How did I do it? By faith, and the hunger to know more.

God bless you brother, and don't be fooled by people disguising themselves as Christians while they point fingers at you... pointing fingers is the devil's job. Just ignore them and listen to what God has put into your heart.

:amen:

Hey, how come there are now 2 different formats for quotes?

Posts #29 and #30 both have quotes, but #29 has a square around the quotes like I've seen in some other forums, but #30 has the bubble I usually see on CF.

Do they look different to everybody?

Yes. Its a bug in the system. Erwin recently created the option to turn off the JAVA Countdowns that people put in their SIGS. Those who have the Java things off now have a weird style of quoteing. I have it off and if I have a normal quote box then the bug was fixed.

Hey! How cool!
I have heard Jews that convert to Christianity called Completed Jews. I think that would be the utmost coolest title to have, to be completed in Christ. What a blessing.

Thank you for the kind compliment.

Jews who accept Christ have many names... some good, some bad. The important thing is that we have accepted Christ. All the rest are bells and whistles.

God bless...
