A thread is happening in the suggestions forum that came from a regular here that is objecting to anyone not totally agreeing to the Nicene Creed to carry another banner and not being allowed to post in the Christian area.

I want to show you what I typed in responce .....

HI

***** knows me, and perhaps this whole thread is because I post in the Baptist forum as an ex Jehovah's Witness, now attending a Baptist church.

I confess I do not understand trinity, but LOVE God a whole heap, enough to leave all I know and hold dear (including family) to come to being Labelled a NOTHING, or relegated to the non christian area, or eben given a black cross and called a 'Disputed Christian'

propose a simple black cross; like the "generic Christian" icon, but without the border. Just black pixels on a transparent background, with no decoration, and the label "Disputed Christian" or something to that effect.

This icon would not grant access to the Christians-only forums,

' hurts.

When I was posting serious questions in the non christian area, I had all the odd bods, giving their opionions on The Bible to sift through, and fellow Jehovah's Witnesses ringing the elders of my congregation getting involved.

Life isn't easy when your not sure, in my church at present I am forbidden from joining in any Biblical dicussions due to my upbringing and the opinion I am 'not saved' yet.
I am refused to take communion as I am not a member. I am informed I must be baptised again in order to become a member.

Please consider the pain you cause others in pinning tags and black crosses next to their name and limiting their involvement with the loving kind people I have fellowshipped with in the Baptist forum here in Christian Forum.

I also doubt that the term 'christian' throughout the body of Christ have read, accepted and feel totally comfortable with the Nicene Creed.

If I had been rejected and unloved by the loving people in the Baptist forum a few months ago when things were very very tough, I would have most certainly taken my own life whilst in the pit of depression. They have accepted me with open arms, they answer questions and give me perspective whilst I tred this new road of following Jesus Christ. We all have fun as well. The admins know my position and have never ever said I should not be carrying the banner of the cross or be posting in The Baptist Forum.

Therein is LOVE

James

No James here, no Bud here. Simple as that.

By the way James, this person is trying to advocate for people who do not fall into that catagorey of following the whole creed, to have a Christian icon, but still not post in the Christian only section. They want to be viewed as Christians, and because they do not follow the creed they are told they are not. He is trying to change that. I agreed with him by the way.

It is a rule set by Erwin, that if you do not adhere to the creed, you cannot post in Christian only sections. I disagree with this, as in your case you are in a Baptist church and are honestly seeking the truth, but this aint my shebang.

According to the letter of the law of the rules here in CF, the person who is objecting to you posting on the Christian only forums is correct, you shouldn't be posting here. However, taking that to its logical conclusions, almost every young Christian that hasn't gone through a course on theology or the nicene creed should also be excluded.

I think the spirit of the rule is to exclude those who actively oppose specific sections of the Nicene creed and not simply those who are ignorant (through lack of exposure) or struggling to understand and agree with sections of the creed.

I would say most baptists should be excluded too because few can agree to the line about baptism if interpreted at face value as water baptism.

Also James, I think they should definitely let you stay in the Christian-Only forums and I will be in your corner if they don't. :)

I should also add that if in some point in time you decide that you do reject the doctrine of the Trinity, I believe you would have the integrity to remove yourself from the Christian-Only forums.

James, if they do anything at all to you, then they do it to every Christian who frequents this particular forum. I, like many others, will leave in a heartbeat if I find they have suspended you. I have noticed that yahwehLove has not been around for a spell, and I am beginning to suspect he has been suspended. (Mods, speak out if I am wrong on this one.)

If anyone expects me to give approval to any creed, I sure hope they are not holding their breath during the wait. I would refer them quickly to my close friend and advisor, who is Helen Waite. They can also go to Helen Waite for my answer.....

If YahwehLove was suspended or banned, it was because he couldn't behave himself with folks he disagreed with and act in a gracious manner. Not because of any particular position he held or didn't hold.

SonsofThunder,

I don't think there's any danger of being removed from here. 1. You attend a Baptist church, which is one of the rules of this forum. 2. You don't deny the existence of the Trinity (at least not to my knowledge)- you just haven't wrapped your head completely around it yet, which is true of a lot of Christians. As long as you don't outright deny the possibility of the exitence, I think (from what I've read about the rules) you're ok.

Try not to worry- it seems like you are completely welcomed in here, regardless. :)

Why would a Christian reject the Nicene Creed?

Please keep in mind I'm new at this but I have a question....what is a Nicene Creed?

To make a comment about Sons of Thunder's worry. It is sad to think that you have to worry about fellowshiping with fellow christians just because you don't "belong" to a certain group. I thought one of the two greatest commandments was this:

Mark 12:31 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' - There is NO commandment greater than these."

Everyone of us has an important part to play in the Body of Christ and we shouldn't be hurting each other like this. IMHO

God Bless!

It is not really about rejecting the creed, but in this instance not understanding what the details of the creed are, or in other words, what the various beliefs included in the creed mean.

The Nicene Creed was drafted in AD 325 to clearly define the orthodox view on the trinity.

As for the concern of sonsofthunder, I would love to see him continue to post here so that myself and others could try to answer the questions that he asks.
