I post a lot about Friends, and Love. Friends, as we all know, are gifts from God. He will hold us all acountable for what we did with those gifts.
We love our friends, and sometimes we lose them. There are many reasons. Sometimes it is our fault, other times thier's. Sometimes you just drift apart, or choose different paths in life. Sometimes there is bitterness, and sometimes unbearable sorrow.
Sometimes our friends are called home suddenly. None of us are promised Tomorrow. I think we should all live our lives in awareness that each time we see or speak to a friend, it may be the last time.
If we knew for sure it would be the llast time, we would be nicer? More loving, caring, forgiving, understanding? I hope so.
I have a cousin who married a man who loved her as much as I have seen a man love a woman. He was the sweetest of the sweet guys. But my cousin, who was still very young was ungrateful for anything she had, and treated him shabbily.
One morning he drove off to work in his old log truck, to put in another very long hard day, solely to provide her with all she desired. Thier new son, a few months old was the apple of his eye.
That morning, she was very unpleasant and a real grouch, and screamed and fumed and fussed, about NOTHING. She even kept it up chasing the truck as he pulled out of the driveway.
That day, she realized how terible she had been, and repented, and made a wonderful supper, and had plans to show him how sorry she was and make it all up to him.
He never came home. He was killed that day. The last words she said to him are not printable here. His last words to her, were "I love you."
25 years later, she still has a measure of physical beauty. But it is marred because there is no smile. Her eyes do not sparkle and they show only deep sorrow.
She still breathes, but she died too that day. All she remembers are the last words she said, and his last haunting words to her, "I love you"!
We never know when it will be our turn. Let's leave our friends and loved ones with a beautiful memory. Let the last words they hear from us be: "I love you".
When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
that an Angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready, in heaven far above,
and that I'd have to leave behind, all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,
for all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for awhile,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized, that this could never be,
for emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity, and all I've promised you".
Today your life on earth is past, but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
and since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the past.
But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true.
Though there were times you did some things, you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free.
So won't you take my hand and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart.
