  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just had to say that because I just really like him! I no this sounds stupid but all the same. I feel like him and I could sit and have fish and chips and talk for hours!

Here's a link if that's what you were looking for. It's from the Bush/Blair press conference

I think Tony Blair is awesome!! Kudos to him. He has stood up for what is right, even though he might kiss his political career goodbye because of it, he didnt back down. How many people would do that? He speaks with such confindance and knowledge.

We Love you Tony Blair

The guy is awesome. For anyone to stand up in the face of adversity the way he has and still be standing tall and talking as sure as he is you have to give him cudos! He makes a more convinceing arguement to this war than Bush does. Bush is the strong arm and Blair the persuader!

I saw him this morning on cable news, speaking about the British POWs that were shot by the Iraqis. His outrage was plain, as it should be.

The last time American and British POWs were shot after being captured was on May 27, 1940, when 100 British POWs of the Royal Norfolk Regiment were machine-gunned in cold blood by the SS-Division Totenkopf; the next day 80 more British POWs were likewise gunned down inside a barn in Flanders by the SS-Division Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler. On December 17, 1944, 71 American POWs from the 285th Field Artillery Observation Battalion were machine-gunned at close range in a field outside Baugnez (near Malmédy), Belgium, by the 1st Battle Group of the Liebstandarte. Other US POWs were shot through the neck after being captured near Engelsdorf by the Totenkopf.

Blair strikes me as being a very sound and very decent guy. He's pulling heat from his own dissidents, just as President Bush is. The fact that his resolve has not wavered speaks volumes.

So what you're saying is that you admire him because you agree with him. Would you also admire a leader that stood against the war despite pro-war opinion both among the people and among his own cabinet?

I guess my main question is whether it's his stance that you admire, or the courage it takes to stick to one's beliefs despite popular opinion?

I view him as a "friend" to america and it is certianly hard to not like a friend. :)

Didymus,

Scotland Rocks!!!! I have to admit that of all the countries I was lucky enough to visit while in the service, the Scottish people were the absolute, hands down, warmest, friendliest people I met. We pulled into Rosyth and then took a train down to Edinburgh. What a gorgeous city!!
