I don't think that it violates any biblical rules. I have two cats and one dog. There are some days I like them much better than people. Unconditional love, we all need that now and then.

Is there a cure? You need to associate with a better group of people. Your cats are spoiling you.

Yes, it sounds like the people around you are toxic, or at least not very supportive.

Pets are loyal and rarely argue back. You don't need to prove your worth to them. With animals, you don't need to think about what you will wear, how you smell, what you say.

Studies show that pets improve the health of the elderly.

In scriptures, you can find a few suggestions to care for animals even if they are work forces. Allow them to eat oats while treading the grain,
make sure they get a Sabbath rest along with the people Ex 23:12 ,
and even make sure your enemy's animal doesn't wander away Ex 23:4.

The firstborn of animals went through sanctification ceremonies along with firstborn human babies Ex 13:2

Ps 36:6
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great deep. O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

Ps 104:11
He sends forth springs in the valleys;
They flow between the mountains;

They give drink to every beast of the field;
The wild donkeys quench their thirst.

Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell;
They lift up their voices among the branches.
...14
He causes the grass to grow for the cattle,
The trees of the LORD drink their fill,The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
Where the birds build their nests,
And the stork, whose home is the fir trees.

The high mountains are for the wild goats;

The cliffs are a refuge for the shephanim. R3264 F1129
He made the moon for the seasons;
The sun knows the place of its setting.
You appoint darkness and it becomes night,
In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about.

The young lions roar after their prey
And seek their food from God.
When the sun rises they withdraw
And lie down in their dens.

I think we can learn from our pets in many ways, one of them is their unconditional love
and acceptance of us (even when we have our worst days), they keep coming and loving.

That is exactly what GOD is like, but we have this general thinking that when we do wrong, we run from HIM (see Adam and Eve to start with).

Instead we should be running to HIM, the only ONE who really knows us - and truly loves us.

As good as all that is (and its VERY GOOD), we are told we are to love like JESUS loves.
That means loving others - especially our enemies, those that maybe are not so plesant.

Note: we are not to do this by ourselves, but HE changes us from the inside out, in order
to LOVE properly - love like HIM.

I know someone who loves the LORD, and loves her dogs and works as a part time
animal shelter helper. This person, is and has been always around animals and absolutely adores them.

One time, we were at a Christian retreat, and the dogs came to visit (not bad dogs, actually quite good dogs) but being excited, they (unknowingly) cornered a 5 year old, who was afraid of dogs (had a bad experience before).

Anyway, the dogs only wanted to play - but she (the little girl) started to scream.
She was really afraid of the bigger dogs.

Of course, everyone heard the screams, and came running to the girl.
This dog lover, instead of trying to comfort the little girl, instead scolded her for her
screaming and later said, the little girl probably scarred the dogs for life!

There is no sin to love creation, and we are amazed and absolutely love it.

There is sin, when we love things in wrong order - that can end up as lust.

Afterall, animals were not made in GOD'S image.

Just a thought...

Misanthropy is a grave sin.
You have probably read Ecclesiastes... what do you think of Solomon's jadedness? Not trying to get off track, but point out that biblical figures were often blunt about offenses they saw.

Jonah was disappointed when Ninevah repented. It wasn't presented as honorable, but God did not disown him for it. God was also blunt about offenses, throughout scriptures.

Over living many years with people, we all get fed up with how people treat each other. We see what it does to people. Scripturally, God defends justice. Cats are semi-exempt, but people rob from each other all the time, with full knowledge of the harm they do others.

Some people develop a strong altruism that can tolerate general aims to help humankind, but when dealing with individuals, they grow very weary of the deceptions and selfish approaches. Hate the sin, love the sinner.

And God isn't even secretly begging for food.

I agree that it is ok to feel jaded but it is something that must be quickly corrected. There is a strong connection between man and God. If you hate man, you hate God -bottom line. It is ok to feel disillusioned but you must understand why and quickly correct it. We are all in the same boat and if you are feeling disillusioned with someone, you can bet someone else is feeling disillusioned with you.

Consider it a red flag when you show misanthropic tendencies. Misanthropy is a grave sin.

You're interested more in getting your point across than in connection.

That can change here and now.

I know a little about you. I read some of your posts. You seem kind, and you struggle with some fear. You have a good head on your shoulders.

Your turn.

I see people here assuming that the people you are acquainted with are not very nice but you haven't said anything like that , all you've said is that you like cats better. Are the people you come in contact really as bad as these others have assumed? I know many people that prefer animal company to human company because the relationship is less complicated or because they are the dominant one in the relationship or because they are socially awkward or for a number of other reasons. If you wish to change this aspect of yourself first find out which reason applies to you then you will have an idea of why you prefer cats to humans, once you know the reason you may decide you like the fact you prefer cats or you may find you have an insight into your own self motivation and can work to change the situation using your knowledge.

I wasn't attacking you at all. If I said the same thing to you face-to-face my tone would have come across much more friendlier. You can't tell on the computer. I was trying to make a point because I thought you were serious. If your thoughts were more lighthearted I would have approached differently. Sometimes you can't tell on the internet.

I was very serious. I like cats more than I like people.

But that's all I said. I wasn't implying anything else.

It didn't at all seem you were attacking me.

But I think the conversation between us is ironic.
