Great fun.

Parrrrrtttay!

This'll get us exactly where we want us!
Well, I'd say there's a difference in good-natured ribbing vs. outright mocking. I'd say both types have posted here.

I'll let the readers decide for themselves which is which...

Very sad, isn't it, Tatu?

A couple of these posts make me shiver in fear of the ramifications of their words.

Amen, Christina and Tatu. Two scriptures came to me immediately:

...Touch not mine anointed (Psalm 105:15a)

and

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. (Matthew 12:36)

Right. And do you really believe that this applies to Hagee?

First of all, this refers to physical violence. Nobody's planning on killing him, as far as I know. Besides, he's four hundred pounds so he's probably going to do himself in.

Second, would you mind explaining to us when Hagee became an OT Israelite Judge?

Mike,

The people we like are God's anointed. At least in our eyes.

That's fine, but if you're going to apply a Bible verse, then you need to go by the Bible's definition, not simply whether or not you like that person.

Agreed, I'm just saying our perceptions cloud things. We don't want our favorites publically reviled.

Now let's see - everyone who found their way to Heaven from Hagee - please form a line here.

All of you who found your way to Heaven from the opposing posters here - please line up here.

WOW - would you look at that line - I believe that must be the anointing of Pastor John Hagee bringing all these people to Heaven.

Now look at these other lines - they are even more anointed than John Hagee - why isn't their lines growing?

I've watched a little hagee now and then.. and he seems like he has a genuine heart for God.

I personally don't think he's all that bright when it comes to prophetic interpetation, or history, and he needs to be more careful in his teaching because I've occasionally heard him make a statement or two that were very wrong (granted I don't think he intended them that way, he just got rolling and lost track of what he was saying).

As for Jesus not returning yet.. he might be shaking his head that Hagee (and numerous others) have accidentally and unintentionally linked him to various pagan gods (Tammuz being the most popular I think).

As for the famous "no man knows the day nor the hour"... here is a thought for you.. just because no man knew it then.. doesn't mean no man will ever know it.

Just before he made that statement Jesus said "as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be..." Go examine Noah and the comming of the flood.

Neither we nor our "annointing" lead people to heaven. The Holy Spirit working in their heart leads them to Christ, and Christ leads them to heaven.

First of all, that's a faulty argument because Hagee has such a larger audience than we do.

Second, the Bible is clear that God can save in spite of false teachings, and there's no reason Hagee should be an exception.

Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us that numbers justify false teachings.

Frankly, I'd rather lead one person to Christ and disciple that person being faithful to the Gospel, than to win 1,000 and have to stand before God as a false teacher.

Whew. Huge load off my shoulders.

Does God say that we are to mark false teachers as "anathema" and remove them from the church, or does He say, "Hey, cut 'em some slack. Nobody's perfect"?

Galatians 2:11 NIV
When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.

When was peter thrown out of the church? he was teaching very false doctrines.

Galatians 2:

12Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

14When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? 15"We who are Jews by birth and not 'Gentile sinners' 16know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.

Verse 13: Hypocrisy
Verse 14: Perverting the truth of the gospel
Verse 16: Teaching legalism

Hypocrisy and legalism are not heresy. I don't one could make the case from this passage that he "perverted the truth of the Gospel".

Preaching that you need to be circumcised to be saved is not heresey:scratch: . verse 13 says he was leading people astray, verse 14: 'When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel'.

Hypocrisy and perversion of the truth by Peter. We dont ignore people for making an error we correct them:
Psalm 141:5 NIV
Let a righteous man strike me—it is a kindness; let him rebuke me—it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers.

I am glad when someone rebukes me in love where I have been wrong....................praise the lord they obey the lord in this to take the time to correct and build someone up!

But Paul did correct him and he repented.

I agree. So why dont you correct in the Lord other people that are preaching heresy so they can repent? (and accept when folks correct you) ;)

I have. The leadership of my church partners with several local churches and we do hold pastors and teachers accountable. We examine one another's teachings in light of scripture and, if one is found to be in error, then they're corrected and given an opportunity to repent and to publically correct their teaching.

I do accept when people correct me, but it has only happened once.

As a new believer, I was entrusted to lead a Bible study. Out of my ignorance, I taught modalism.

I was corrected and given an opportunity to repent and correct my teaching. I did and, since then, I haven't taught anything that is in error.
