Hey, smart of you not to jump into a book without seeking advice.

Right now my youth group is going through five incorrect points presented in the Da Vinci Code. It really is hilarious how awful Dan Brown's research is ^_^ ^_^ .

Anyways, if you hold on for a day or two I'll post some stuff about the major point, the point the whole book is hinged on: Was Jesus Married to Mary Magdalene and did He have a child with her?

The answer is undoubtedly no to both questions and there are mounds of evidence (both Biblical and extra-biblical) to prove this.

If I can I may even be able to e-mail you the presentation our teacher is using, it real short so it doesn't take up much space. That book is full of lies so watch your back and be sure to also read the Truth, the Bible.

Jesus' life on earth has been attacked in every conceivable way since His leaving this world and then sending His Holy Spirit. If the devil cannot get people to deny He ever lived, then he will devise, deceive, and lie about His ability and authority to carry the sins of the world and cover them as the final offering for them. Jesus said that He came into the world to do the express will of the Father and accomplish it without sinning even one time so he could be a perfect sacrifice according to the old law - without spot or wrinkle - perfect. If Jesus were proved to be a sinner, just like the rest of us, then that would chip away at His authority and right to bear the burden of man's sin debt.
The Bible, the life, and all things about Jesus will always stand against these attacks, whether subtle or outright, and there are many of these lies curculating, including the one that has Jesus never really dying or that His body was stolen and He never was resurrected from death by the Father.
I heard that it is a best seller. I hope that after people hear the lies they will be curious and seek the truth about Jesus.

1Jo 3:5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

Re 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the commander of all the rulers of the world. All praise to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.

I heard the was a pretty good FICTION book actually. Just take it as that and nothing more and you will probably enjoy reading it.
It is a great fiction book, its kinda funny. But it says on one of the first pages that all research, data, times, people, etc... are true. Dan Brown doesn't leave the impression that the book is truth, he flat out tells us that this is a historical fiction. He tells people that all the facts are true its just the characters that are fake.

Satan must have been pretty ticked at the sucess of the Left Behind series so he came up with this. I wonder how mad he is about the Passion movie?

I think Satan was pretty happy with the Left Behind series as well, it puts an idea into people's minds of a pre-trib rapture, which I believe is wrong and it is a dangerous notion. We should expect the tribulation, not think that we don't have to worry about it because God will sweep us off the planet before it happens. Why would God put the seal of God on people's heads if they didn't have to go through the tribulation?

Anyway, this is kind of off topic, so I won't go into that anymore.

I thought it was a great book. Granted, he claimed it was all acurate and historically reliable, but I think that was more for effect than to fool anyone. It makes for a better story if the reader can actually believe it is true. Wasn't the same thing kind of implied with the Blair Witch Project? The movie was only popular because if you got into the movie, it seemed kind of real (as far as movies go).

The biggest thing to remember about the book, is even on his own site, the book is listed as a novel, which means fiction. There is a serious problem if the author claims it is fiction, and his readers believe it to be fact.

Okay, first let me say, it is awesome that you are going to hear the sides of the argument on this book before just jumping in. Let me warn you, being new at Christianity, I would not read this book for a while. It will still be around by the time you become a more mature Christian, so don't worry about that...and as for reading material, I have just jumped into an awesome book by Brennan Manning called "Abba's Child." It is an awesome book that I think anyone would love. Also, books by Ted Dekker are awesome if you are into the more fictional stuff.
