I keep seeing the numbers 6, 66, 666, 616

Today I woke up and got to my computer at exactly 06:00, on the 12th (12/2=6) of June (06). Yesterday I was also seeing the numbers 666 quite often on the TV. What does it mean? Is God trying to tell me something?

I was having the same issue you were in regards to those numbers (I’d be playing Phase 10 and the set of 3 I played were 6’s, or I’d be stocking shelves at WalMart and the number that we use to find the item had the 3 numbers). I talked to the pastor at a Bible study I attend, and he said that his son got a new car, and as he was driving, he noticed that others were driving the same model. He suggested that I wasn’t seeing those numbers any more than I was before I started having doubts about my salvation. I think you might be struggling with the same thing.

So I just filled up fuel on my motorcycle and it filled exactly 6.66 liters and the size of the photo I took of this was 6.65 megabytes taken on June 26, 2020. June is the 6th month, 26, 2 6's = 666. On my way home I also drove behind a car with the plate number TLY-566. Is God trying to tell me something?

It seems to me that you're looking rather hard for the number 666. For example, saying that June=6, and 26=2*6=66, giving you 6,6, and 6=666....... it seems like you're doing some mental gymnastics to get these numbers. I don't think you see more 666's than anyone else; but as J0A0 said, your OCD is making you notice them more. If you have to do math to get these numbers, you're probably looking for them (and it's not even correct math!)

In ancient Greece, the number 6 was considered a "perfect number" (that is, it is the sum of its divisors, 1, 2, and 3). Later, Christians such as Augustine believed that the number 6 was perfect in a theological sense. In his work, The City of God, he said, "Six is a number perfect in itself, and not because God created the world in six days; rather the contrary. God created the world in six days because this number is perfect."

I don't know about that, but the point is, there is nothing in either the Christian tradition or traditional theology or mathematics that would indicate that there is anything bad, unlucky or evil about the number 6. Likewise, 666 and 616 are not evil numbers. It is believed that these numbers somehow indicate something about who the Beast of Revelation will be/was. But there is nothing evil about the number itself. Fearing the number 6 because it is associated with an evil person is like fearing the color red because it is associated with blood.

If God were trying to tell you something, I think he would do it in a different manner. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the Word, and through our conscience. If God were trying to send you a message through these things, what do you think that would be?

I know it's hard, but try to ignore these things as much as possible. It's almost certainly nothing. Hang in there!

Are you receiving treatment for your OCD from a mental health professional either a psychiatrist or counselor?

You've received very good advice! Looking for coincidences that "confirm" our obsessions is a common issue for people with OCD. Not Perfect is right - ignoring it is the way to go. And I agree with Samaritan Woman - keep learning how to treat your OCD as OCD, whether that means getting professional help or educating yourself (and putting the principles you learn into practice!).
