• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Last Friday I got my college exam results and they weren't good. I just finished second year and this semester I got one F and a D and my GPA needs to be 2.00 to pass the year.
Last year I had to repeat 3 exams and it was really depressing at the time. I tried to make a determination not to go that again. In the first semester of this year I passed everything and felt fantastic.
To make things worse I'm home alone for 3 weeks as my parents are away on vacation in California and have no-one to talk to about this. I keep trying to just accept it and move on but I keep getting a depression phase and panic attacks.
I even called the Samaritans phonecall afew times before and feel like I can't tell my parents.
What should I do?

My friend,

i have just gone through what you are feeling now, for me it was hard to get out of the situation, i found it extremely difficult to get out of the rut because i had no confidence and no one to talk to, i felt as if i was completely alone. But i was wrong, there is ALWAYS someone there for you, not just God! I think you feel as if your parents will just have a go at you if you tell them that you have failed. I felt like that, its only natural to be ashamed and believe that your parents wont be happy, just tell them whats the worst that can happen!

Eventually i plucked up the courage to tell them that i was failing, even though i was extremely scared........they werent angry with me they just sat down with me and we worked things through!

Remember "What have you got to lose!!"

All the best
God bless

El

Dont worry about letting someone you trust know about your anxiety problem :)

Look how many people deal with it. You are not alone! Try and think positively!

You are smart, you know you have a problem, and you are living on your own! Man, you already win like 10 awards from my viewpoint. LOL.
