• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm going through what I was told a dark season.(If you want to know what it is PM me.) I've been going through alot lately and I'm feel like the weight of the world is on my back. It seems like the one person I can talk to that could actually help me with this has moved away, and now I feel that I have to face it alone. I've been praying, reading my Bible, and praying more, but it only seem that it's getting worse. I don't know to do right now cause I'm so confused. I was told my one of my ministers before he left that we go through trials and tribulations to perfect us and to test our faith, but it seems as though I'm not doing something right. I feels like God has turned his back on me, and I just don't see where or how this is going to help me. If someone can give some advice please post it cause it seem as if this is more than I can really bear.

First, let me say that I am praying for you.

Second, I believe that He will never lead us through something that is more than we can bear. For me, the great encouragement is to know that He is walking with me, regardless of what I go through. If He is with me, He'll get me through it.

Know that Jesus has experienced life, and so you can have confidence that God understands your struggle. While I don't always think that God leads us into difficult times, I do believe that He always leads us through them.

Feel free to PM me if you would like.

May God lead you in paths of righteousness!

Yeah, I agree with all that is said, just to say as well that you are not alone, i am feeling as you do, and am getting help for it!, only now am i just starting to see light at the end of the tunnel!

Mr cheese said to me as well "Jesus said to ask seek, and knock...repeatedly. " (sorry i dont remember what verse that is from) but it helps!, never give up on god and he will respect you for that!.

You'll be supprised when you do start feelling better at how much god actually was with you and how much he is there!

It seems strange me giving advice on this as i to strugle with the same thing, but just to let you know, your not alone and there is light at the end of the tunnel, even if you cant see it yet!!!

I actually do the writing thing alot. I know that you all are saying to pray and believe, but I'm starting to believe that nothing is going to change anytime soon.

When ever I get this way also I write it all down...it makes me feel better afterwards. Also reading the Bible is good, that brings me peace, especially Psalms.

I'll be praying for you.

Hi Friend:
I'm going through what I was told a dark season.
None Children of God has dark seasons. Just trial momments.
I've been going through alot lately and I'm feel like the weight of the world is on my back.
Jesus said in Mathew 11:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Why dont you take that big stone off of your back and let Jesus to carry it?:)

It seems like the one person I can talk to that could actually help me with this has moved away, and now I feel that I have to face it alone
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Jesus of Nazareth
I've been praying, reading my Bible, and praying more, but it only seem that it's getting worse. I don't know to do right now cause I'm so confused.
Keep doing that!!! And be careful Who do you listen to...

I was told my one of my ministers before he left that we go through trials and tribulations to perfect us and to test our faith, but it seems as though I'm not doing something right. I feels like God has turned his back on me
God will never leave you. But one thing is clear. God CAN NOT have communion with sin. So if you did something or are doing something wrong to His eyes... just try to talk to Him about it. He knows everything about you, but He wants to hear from you.
Hoping you will be restaured soon, God Bless You!!!

David wrote a lot of Psalms while he was suffering from depression, so know that you are not alone. One thing that I have been thinking about to help me feel loved and worthy is I have been thinking of Moses. Moses is like the best servant of God in the Old Testament, and none greater has lived since (Except Jesus, but since He is God, that really isn't the same hehe). Anyway, Moses killed a man. He killed a guy because that guy was insulting one like him. Now I think we all can agree, that that isn't a good thing to do. Well God still used Moses to do incredible things after that. If God can use a man who did something so easily pointed out as being bad, and did such great things through him, then God can do amazing things through me and with me.

I am sure lots of people have told you to cast your anxieties upon God (1 Peter 5:7). I know from experience that can be a lot easier said than done, especially when you feel that prayer isn't doing much to help. Pray that God reveal to you what areas in your life need purification, what sins exist and so forth. Pray that God teach you how to cast your problems to him. Pray that God shows you how to respond in the way he desires you to do.

If you ever need to speak with someone I am here for you and dont ever hesistate to ask if you need anything.

Read 1 Corinthians 13, the famous passage about love. Change the word love to God. Meditate on those characteristics of God through your difficult times. Remember God loves you and sent Jesus to die for you so that YOU can have a relationship with HIM. I pray your relationship with God is amazing and grows into the greatest love you could ever imagine and more.

snap out of it!....get a grip!....look at all those starving people in Africa!.......:)

I suppose those aren't the words you want to be reading right now..obviously!...hhmm....let me think......what about: rather than look for outside help, look at yourself! When the prod.....the prodig....the prodiga.....you know who I mean!...well when he was down and out, the bible says he 'came to himslf'. Amongst all the chaos and turmoil, he came to a realization of what the best solution was. Only you know the full details of your situation. Therefore outside advice cannot address your problem completely...your own common sense can!

Hope I was helpful, if not I apologize for my pointless rambling......:)

I do not think the first statement of GJG is something anyone should ever say to someone in a bad state (depression, grieving, whatever). Just because other people are hurting or their pain may be more extreme does NOT make your pain go away or any less valid. But his other suggestions were pretty good. Turn to God. Read the Word.

Ephesians tells you about spiritual warfare and how we are battling Satan. Just know that God is on your side and you are armed well.

In terms of the 1 Peter 5:7 that I told you to read before. Really read the second part closely. "because He cares for you". God cares about you. If you read the verse before it is saying that God will honor the humble. Just turn to God and seek His face. God has the reward of eternal life with him there for your taking.

Remember Jesus said that "if I go and prepare a place for you, I will return and receive you unto myself so that where I am you may be also." (John 14:3)

Listen, one thing you need to come to grips is a revelation of change. You cannot expect anything different to happen if you don't do anything different. Keep praying and reading the Bible, but as you can see something else needs to be done. The confessions of faith only go as far as you take them. For instance, you can declare that everything will be alright and if you don't change then everything will remain the same. So search your heart, get rid of all the bad things messing you up, thank God for enlightenment, and watch how the situation(s) get better!

I hear you. I've been through a dark time recently as well, and I totally know how it feels - like a dark mist swirling around you. You doubt God, others, and yourself. You wonder if things will ever get better. You wonder why you are feeling this way and feeling so alone when others seem to have it so good. "Why is this happening to me?" It sometimes feels like the only way out is the unthinkable - suicide.

Others have already told you to seek God, and you know it yourself anyway, so I won't repeat that. But, sometimes that is not enough. Did you know that depression is a state that covers up repressed feelings? Yup, underneath it is a whole lot of pain. It can be anger, sadness, fear, or (most likely) all of them. Being depressed is an extremely uncomfortable state to be in, but the good news is you can use this discomfort to push you towards change, towards feeling, expressing and releasing those feelings, and integrating parts of yourself that have been shut off and repressed for a long time.

Two great books that helped me to start this journey are: "Cure by Crying" by Thomas Stone, and "Facing the Fire" by John Lee. These books have a wealth of information about feeling and releasing those feelings. You can do the work by yourself if you want, or with others. I am part of a primal therapy group that enabled me to do my deep feeling work in an atmosphere of support and caring. I have released huge amounts of pain over the last 6 months, and my life has changed completely.

Please feel free to PM me. That goes for anybody reading this.

Love and blessings in Christ,

Andrew

Wow man, what are you doing that for. You should let Jesus carry that load for you:

Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Jesus carries our heavy load for us. We just roll it off onto Jesus. Unless your in sin, that can be a heavy load. But the power is there for us to be delivered and set free from all sin and bondage.

It seems like the one person I can talk to that could actually help me with this has moved away, and now I feel that I have to face it alone.

Jesus said He would never abandon us or leave us, even to the end of the age. He is always there for us night or day. He is the best friend we will every have, because He only wants good and the best for us.

I feels like God has turned his back on me, and I just don't see where or how this is going to help me. If someone can give some advice please post it cause it seem as if this is more than I can really bear.

You got to get out of your feelings and get into faith. You got to get out of the flesh and get into the spirit. The just shall live by faith, not by our feelings. Confussion is not Gods will for us, that is the work of the enemy. But God provides all we need to overcome and live in victory over that. He gives us a sound mind. God provides all we need. It is available to you right now.

2 Tim. 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

We enter in through worship, praise, and thanksgiving. God hates it when people grumble and complain, so start to rejoice and be glad in HIm, begin to count your blessings.

Ephes. 5:18-20
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, [19] speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, [20] giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

There is power and there is authority in the name of Jesus. We have everything available to us, that Jesus had when He walked the earth. All we have to do is step in His foot prints. Walk in the new and the living way that He provided for us to walk in.
