I just bought Doom 3!!!

HL2 still hasn't been released. Doom 3 just got released this week. I'm still questioning the morals of the game before i play it. The graphics on it look insane and i want to play it sooooo bad but i want to please god before myself. I have a ATI 9600 and 512 DRR so it should run pretty smooth

The more modern the game, the more blood and gore there’s bound to be. It’s the main reason why, on the rare occasions I play on my computer, I stick to those 1980s games.

My friend has a similiar set up to yours, with a P4 3gs. The game chokes on his system if set to anything higher than Medium.

On mine it runs smooth with everything maxed out. It looks beautiful. Loads of eye candy. Amazing. No wonder it took so long to be released.

I'm sorry but Doom 3 does not evolve around Satan, your the main guy saving the world from hell...trying to destroy Satan...Doesnt get much more Christian then that.

I second this. That's my point on a lot of the violent games. First of all its a game, not real and second it's killing Satan not fighting on his side.

If someone commits violence and blames it on a video game he(or she) had it in him(or her) before he(or she) saw the game.

I can't wait to play this game. I just gotta upgrade my mobo and cpu. I just bought AMD XP 2700+ to put in my machine.

how much ram on your 9600? 9600 might not be good enough for high detail... at least, and still get a good fps.

I have heard that Doom 3 was pretty silly. No interactivety.. mostly just really really high powered bump mapping textures.

Just check out the new drivers ATI has released, there created specificly with Doom 3 in mind. Even dated cards are able to play D3 on high with abosoulty no issues what so ever. Google it, I'm too lazy to find the link. lol

AMD processors do help that a bit though.

Yeah, I just installed those betas right now. I'm just going to check them out, but thought I would stop by CF first. Interesting that you posted that I will report back on them after a quick test or two.

The drivers made no difference in the ingame timedemo. The gameplay is smooth, however not much more than before. Maybe the drivers I already had from Asus were already optimized for Doom 3??? Not really sure.

Why would Asus make drivers for an ATI grahpics card?

Well, at least it did help a bit. To bad it didn't help more so. Anyway, for the huge amount of people it does help, here are the drivers.

My hardware is 1 1/2 years old and run doom 3 smoothly on high setting and 1024*768.. It's a AMD 2500+ and a radeon 9500 pro which is overclocked...

I'm running at about 2.8GHz with an ATI 9800 Pro with the RAM maxed out. Hopefully I'll be getting Doom 3 this weekend - I've heard it should look awesoem.
