• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I really need to start listening to Dave Ramsey. My problem isn't gambling. It's, I will see sale prices on items and spend $15 here and $15 there, and end up racking up a bill of $150-$200 a month sometimes.

Before my father died, he made a lot of money, and although he wouldn't buy me everything I wanted, I just never truly had to live this "low on the hog". He managed the family finances and kept them a secret. So all this is pretty new to me. We didn't always live in the best houses, but we could eat pretty much whatever we wanted and not worry too much about the financial side.

Employment... Activity.... Being actively engaged in some kind of employment takes the mind off the shopping.

That is true.

As you may know I am Schizophrenic, and some of my issues have to do with something very bad that happened to me at a job I used to work at. So I am working on getting a better job and working at being ready for said job.

Some doctors help with symptoms by adding more pills and routines that might stress you out and just introduce other symptoms. As much as they say "you're healthy" but what evidence is there except them trying to reassure you and ask for more money to support their work.

I'm saying I could tell you advice on how I for example manage finances, but if I myself haven't had the problem resolved, what use can I be. Likewise this goes for the case of having sin in the heart too.
Someone might get upset for me talking about dealing with the problem of sin when they'd rather hear "rise up and walk" while Jesus said "your sins are forgiven you".
Be spiritually minded or else.
