• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

My mind has been poisoned by BDSM. Bad, horrid thoughts have been in my mind since I was a toddler. Now, at the age of 15, I am still struggling with them. I know that BDSM in entirety is evil, and I have been praying for these thoughts to go away. I have told my pastor, my youth group, and my grandmother about it, and I have asked for their prayers. I would like to ask anybody who reads this post to give me some advice and to pray for me as well.

My suggestion is that you keep in the Word and really fill your mind with God's Word. Also, consider speaking to a therapist about this. There may be some underlying issue you have that is drawing you to this thought process. A good therapist can help you explore what you is going on in your thinking and help you bring it out in the open. Then you can take that before the Lord and have Him remove it from you once and for all.

God bless.

Experiences lodge in our memory. Some you may carry for the rest of your life (the wages of sin is death..). But you are forgiven, and through Jesus they will lose their power.

John writes about the light shining in the darkness. Think what happens when you light a match in a dark room. And then, when you turn on the light. What happens to the darkness? Thus, adopting positive, healthy concepts and experiences will work towards replacing and neutering your past memories.

I will definately be praying for you brother! A lot of what people here are saying is true. What you emerse your mind in is what will take over your thoughts. If you're constantly in the word and thinking positive thoughts and refuse to get into negative things, horror movies, etc...then your mind will change accordingly. I'm not sure of the exact verse, but the bible goes into saying, "whatever is right, whatever is noble, whatever is pure, whatever is holy, think on these things! Just fill your mind with God and His greatness! Listen to only Christian music and stay away from TV and listen to a lot of sermons and stuff and believe me...it'll help!

My suspicion is that you are suffering from a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and that you are mis-diagnosing your problem. <edit>

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is created by unrealistic thinking, and already in your post, I see that you maybe exhibiting unrealistic thinking.

Please don't think badly of yourself. I have a BDSM fetish as well. Everyone is different, and just because you happen to like this, doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you. Don't feel like you have to repress a part of who you are.

If you truly do feel that this is a problem, I wish you the best of luck. I'm not a Christian, so I would go about it in a different way than you probably would. But if you feel that your God will help you, then pray about it. I think that meditation could help you. If you meditate on it, and are able to figure out how your BDSM thoughts came to be, it will be easier to figure out a way to deal with them.

 Good luck.

if you are speaking of bondage and sado-masichism ...
there is a difference between fantasy role playing and the infliction of pain or suffering on others ...

a desire to control others , demean them is a wrong spirit ...reject the spirit , reject evil , ask for the Lord's forgiveness , confess Jesus as your lord and savior , ask for the strength of the holy spirit ...

search for what is good , holy , true ... right relationships , compassion , generosity ...

do you know some one who walks the walk ... who you can talk to ? is there a couple who lives in mutual edification who you can pick up some pointers from ?
