That's not a dumb question. I know them to be daily readings that help you get focused on God and His plan for life. Devotionals inspire you and help direct your day.
yep, i dont think i could have said it better myself! But newayz, for my devotions I usually read 'Our Daily Bread' in the morning, and then read part out of this book I got from a christian book store. The book is kinda like daily bread, i guess, but a bit different. I do them differently sometimes, and do more at times. I just figured i'd tell u that to give u an idea. i dont know if thats anything like what other people do, but figured i'd let ya know ;)

well 4 my devotions i use the SOAP model which is for begginers (its easy).
What you do is read about half a chapter or more and write down in a note book

scripture: (in here write the scripture that caught your eye).
Observation: (What thoughts or observations do you have on the scripture?).
Application: (How does the scripture apply to your life and how does it challenge you?)
Prayer: (End your devotion by writing a prayer down that expresses your heart to god about what you read today)
I hope this helps you! :)

devotions is when you "devote" time to God, which implies there is time to be a christian and time to be a pagan, which is retarded. the word has become a cliche
It doesnt really imply that there is a time to be a christian and time to be a pagan. It is just a time where you can devote....it doesnt mean becoming christian like and just pretend and become pagan again. Even though you do glorify God in all you do it is just devoting a small time to read the Bible or do devotions: Doing a small prayer time and bible time to yourself and God.( So devtions would be doing these things by yourselves or with fellowship with other christians or someone who doesnt no christ) Hopefully this clears up some questions. And also, I am not trying to be bias here either, I just want people to know and understand this point of view............ :sorry:
