Christ said "I forgive you, go and sin no more. I see everyone doing the first part, even becoming defensive! But who is encouraging the second?
also lol @ the "legal eagle" internet heroics, you got me good man, you got me good!
Anyway i'm satisfied, carry on.
Oh. That. Girl.
I sent four or five texts explaining how I don't think the long distance is working and the things that bother me about her behavior, and ended it with message saying, "but I am still your friend and I love you, that won't ever change."
Her response to the entire thing:
" Love u 2
Life is lemonade so pucker up"
ummm.....
After Jesus told that woman to "sin no more", do you really think it was even slightly possible that she literally never sin again? Like no sinning actions and no sinning thoughts for the rest of her life?
If even her who has seen Jesus in person cannot stop sinning, why are you putting that burden on anyone today who has not seen Jesus in person?
It is impossible. That's why we all need Jesus.
My post is not targeting any particular person, but when someone becomes saved, then the scripture says that person is a new creature. The old sin nature is still there, but there is a new nature that wants to please the Lord. The Holy Spirit now resides in that person, and that person cannot remain exactly the same as before salvation. A Christian can certainly fall into sin just like an unbeliever, but he/she will not be able to stay satisfied and happy in a lifestyle of sin as the Holy Spirit will not let that person be satisfied staying in it.
If someone likes to steal, and then gets saved, then the new nature will not allow that person to be able to continue stealing and feel just fine doing it any longer. That does not mean that the person cannot steal, but will no longer enjoy it and will not want to keep doing it over and over without feeling conviction about it. The same goes for someone who has a habit of telling lies or commits fornication or whatever the sinful habit is.
Someone who is forgiven by the Lord (saved) will not feel good about going right back and CONTINUING in the old lifestyle and having an attitude of it doesn't matter since I was forgiven and can't help it.
Christians still sin, but cannot have pleasure for very long in purposely displeasing the Lord and grieving Him.
When you become saved by grace thru faith in Jesus the Christ out Lord and Savior we no longer have sin held against us so her going and "sinning no more" is a fact and not a deed.
Being as the first part of the text was not spelled correctly out of laziness and the second part was, I'd lean towards this. But how much does that really matter? It's possible that she recently changed her text message signature to "Life is lemonade so pucker up."
