GRRRR!! Thats me right now.

My older brother got into a car accident and pretty much jacked up his car, so my mother says "Here, you can use the car matt's been using, Ya'll both just have to share it." (Its her car, My own car got stolen and I've been saving money to get a new one)

Well, he doesn't share it, he used to use all the gas I put in it until I decied to just put gas in the car when I needed to use it, and just enough to get me where i need to go and back, and now I want to kill him.

He got it in his mind to go get and the inspection renewed, which is a good thing. But like the moron he is, he just goes and gets it done without fixing any of the problems that car has. So of course, it fails.

And now he is trying ot say that I owe him half the money ($20) becuase "its my car too". Well, yippie! But I knew it would fail an inspection test, which is why I haven't gotten it done yet, but instead have been trying to fix the problems so it WILL get passed. But no, he doesn't understand that, and decides to use that thick head of his.

~~~
So we just had a fight, verbal, no physical, and my hands are shaking so bad.. He stood there and called me so many things that I wanted to get up and hit him.. but of course, I don't. I never do. Even when I WANT to do that, I still have to think "This is my brother, hitting him won't fix anything.." so I take his abuse and try to rationally tell him how it is, but he doesn't listen since all he cares about is himself. ~.~
I fricking hate my entire family. Every last one of them. When I can move out, I will turn my back on them all and forget they even existed.
Sorry, I just needed to rant.
yes, lovely family fights. Its a thing we all face at some time. And you 3 are basically messed up, because you don't sit together and discuss together what should be done and not been done. Stop talking to your brother, and use your mother(who is the solemn car owner) as a mediator in this situation. That is something you all should have done to begin with. The arguments, if you look from it from a distance is again because there are no clear agreements, if you make peacefull agreements with your mom, that your mother could enforce upon your brother, then there would be nothing to worry about. Its all about making compromises with the people you are involved with , and it's a matter of giving and taking, take your complaints to your mother, so that she is aware of them, and as time progresses try to let go of your anger, in the end its only a car, and losing precious bonds of love or family relationships over a piece of metal isn't really worth it. And if in the end you dislike the entire useage of the car, try to get a another substitute into traveling towards the destinations you need to go. Maby you can find alternative ways (friends,bicycle, scooter,bus) to get to your destinations. It can actually be a good time for you to get up and lose those possible extra calories you may have in your body, and start jogging. Try avoiding making use of the car so that your brother can make exuses of you having to pay for it. You should say you drove to that destination so you pay for it. Selfish people who don't want to contribute can indeed be a very destructive force into relationships, only time will reduce your anger in this. Try to focus on what jesus said.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shall love thy neighbor, and hate your enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
I gues that you might could replace brother for enemy in this case. Try to be strict but loving against your brother. Make firm agreements about the usage of your car, and don't let anger get to you, and don't let your brother walk over you. But don't let him provoke you to the extend that you will get angry again, so avoiding situations is a very good idea.
Matt,
One way to keep things fair, even though you can't enforce it, is to ask that everyone tops off the tank each time they use the car. Of course people will fudge this, but you'll have something concrete to stand on.
The repairs are facing you now too, and those will involve more than the cost of inspection and gas. This might be a time to sit down with paper and calculate life expenses, so you know what to expect when you're on your own. Repairs never go away. Every time you accumulate posessions, you accumulate new expenses and frustrations. At our house, we sometimes joke about the number of keys on the keychain showing the number of headaches you have.
I agree that we don't need cars as often as we think we need them. Many adults bike to work.
It's great to have this forum to vent, n'est-ce pas? You can say things without worrying about how they will hurt the people you're close to. Everyone has a right to get upset about injustice. God does. He also allows himself to rise above the pettiness and be the mature one...which you've probably done more than once or twice.
When money is tight, fear can control our decisions. You will probably find your brother more generous as he gets more financially comfortable.
Your car arrangement will not last forever. Family tensions are at a natural peak. You're at an age where there are too many capable adults in close quarters--like too many iron chefs spoiling one soup. Find some ways to work your way out into greater financial independence, and you will find greater freedom. You knew that already.
Okay....breathe. I think many of us can relate to your story. I'm the youngest of 4 kids in the family. Believe me, I've had my fair share of being stepped on. And often enough...I felt exactly like you do. I'm glad that you didn't do anything physical, yet words can do just as much damage. Now we're (my family) are older and wiser (heehee)...those things are in the past for us. I now this sounds silly, but don't put your family behind you. They can and will make you angry many more times. Just grow with each experience. And if they do something else to make you mad...then just post back here! ;)
You know what, Matt? I think your actions are admirable. You use your head, and you are not quick to fly off the handle. I know right now it may not matter, but I think when you are older, your brother will look to you. Why? Because you are level headed and though you have the need to vent, you have self-control.
Another thing--I bet your mother, even though she may not say it, appreciates these qualities in you. Sometimes other siblings seem to get their needs met more because of their actions and the way they act--and situations they get into many times demand it. Even though this can be the case, these things can be burdensome to a parent, and they may spend a lot of time dealing with this one "problem" child. Having a child that is well-behaved and well-mannered is of great value to a parents. Remember, your parents will also question whether they are doing right in raising their children. I think you may be an encouragement to them.
I Really Dont Understand How Teenagers Can Just Hate Like That, You Hate Him Over 20.00 And A Car, This Is All Material Things. Material Things Mean Nothing When It Comes To God. Satan Offered Jesus The World But He Refused, He Came To Jesus At His Weakest Time In His Life, And Tempted Him. You Should Never Use The Word Hate Unless It Is Satan You Are Talking About, If Your Brother Died Tomorrow How Would You Feel? If Your Parents Did? You Would Not Be So Angry, Sometimes We Need To Look At Our Own Lifes And Say Am I Wrong? Am I Always Right? Life Is Hard On Everyone And When You Live In A Stressful Home And When People Are Not Christains You May Feel Like This, However There Is A Time When You Have To Ask Yourself Is This What God Wants For My Life? Am I Doing What Jesus Wants In My Life? God Loved You That He Gave His Son For Your Sins, No Matter How Bad Things Are Around You, They Could Always Be Worse, I Pray That You Lean On God And Not Hate People. Look At Things As Blessings Not Curses, If You Show Them God In You, That Is All That Matters, Pray For Your Family To Be Saved.
I have had issues in the past with my brother, he yelled to no end at me and my family, using his anger as power against us. He knew that his anger got him what he wanted, and he wasn't afraid to harm us along the way. It hurts to have someone you love treat you like that. I would encourage you to love him as your brother, even though you don't approve of the way he treats you. It's a tough situation to deal with, we had many disputes over the car. It wasn't truly resoled until I got my own car. My best advise if you can't get away from the yelling is to be as patient as you can, and it does take some back breaking to maintain the peace. It hurts, to no end does it hurt. Its a bit better now, he is off on his own finally, and I am fixng to go to college soon, too. i will be praying for you and your family as you work your way through this.
I haven't read any of the replies or anythin...so yeh..but still..
Reading that reminds me of how I used to feel when I was like 13 or 14 and had a fight with one of my sisters [4 girls all together!].
Anyways..I used to get REALLY REALLY angry...and try to rationalise but it just never seemed to work out ya know.
Damn these close quarters! hehe
I dunno..a few years on all my sisters are great friends...even though at times they bug me..you gotta forgive them...it's not like a friend who can come and go..not that they do... Your family are the people you'll have up til the day you die...
Even though times are rough now and it's hard to get on with him...
things will get better and if they don't...well maybe your bro has issues or something...
I mean..he's not intentionally aggrivating you right??
Yeah it happnes. Makes you wonder how you could be related to them. But eventually it all rolls over. You shouldn't HATE anyone...you may get p/o-ed but Hate...well....thats kind of a different thing all together. It could always be worse though.
