• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I often refuse to go to groups to work on depression or bipolar. I so want friends or people to lean on one another, but everyone there is so depressing. I don't like going because all the depressing talk makes me feel all depressed. So, if I'm doing well, I avoid such groups.

That's kind of ironic. Friends, good friends, can help a lot. I think it's especially hard for seriously depressed people because they are so often not fun to be around.

Mildly, chronically depressed people often develop a great sense of humor, though, as a coping mechanism.

Hey there @redblue22

I feel you. I've tried to avoid going there. I've cancelled so many times-- I can say I'm afraid to be judged or thrown a pity party from people that haven't got a clue of what being depressed is all about. Even if they have a degree for it. But, I think eventually, we do need that "someone" we can rely on to vent. Being in a room full of people that might feel the same, can be both good and bad. It all depends on what you're willing to do for yourself and for others. Who knows, there might be some one else that feels exactly like you in these group meets.
