• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm mad at God for putting me in so much difficulties. First, I had to witness my former middle school bullies living great lives, while I'm stuck going to therapy and taking medication (I also feel like I'm in last place). Second, financial difficulties. And finally, frustration with everything. I can recall that I've tried to kill myself within the first year of my "conversion" after so much bad luck entered my life.

I'm sorry you have to deal with such issues. It's difficult not to compare yourself to others, especially when the last way you remember someone was by how awful they treated you.

This conversion issue seems to frequently trouble you so I need to ask a few questions before continuing this discussion. First exactly what were you pre-"conversion"? Atheist, agnostic Christian? Second do you feel you were happier before you "converted" and here's the important part why do you feel you were happier if that's the case?

More to the point another question that needs to be asked is why is all of this God's fault?

truth be told, I don't know, but agnostic Christian sounds about right. Because everything was perfectly fine until I started trusting him with my life.

I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time and I know what it's like to feel angry at God as I have been in that place myself more than once. However I don't believe it is God that is making your life miserable, rather it is Satan and this fallen world that is causing you such unhappiness. I know it can be hard when you see wicked people who have no time for God doing well while you struggle. However remember this life is only temporary and while things may be going well for these bullies how do you know these people are really happy? Just because they have plenty of material things does not mean they are happy. Look at all those celebrities who have money, fame and success but are addicted to drugs or alcohol and sometimes even end up committing suicide. Moreover if these former bullies don't repent and turn to God they will have a pretty miserable eternity and that is what really matters. Also have you ever thought that the reason why things seem to have started getting hard for you as soon as you became a Christian is because you then became a threat to Satan. After all nonbelievers aren't much of a threat to the Devil but believers are because we have officially sided with his enemy so he will do all in his power to turn us away from the Lord. So it is him you should hate and be mad at NOT God. This world is still under Satan's control and will be until Jesus returns so we can expect difficulties and trials. Jesus Himself said that we would have trouble in the world but He has overcome the world. If you abandon God you just give Satan what he wants so you need to stop listening to his lies. Also abandoning God won't change the problems you have if anything they may become worse as you will have no spiritual anchor to hang on to. Anyway I'll keep you in my prayers and remember God loves you and we all love you here.:pray::pray::pray::hug::hug::hug::hug:

The first thing I would like to say is that people with depression and anxiety usually have trust issues and feel let down by the people in their lives. It's a very common side effect. Depression is rarely understood (clinical depression) by people, so few take it seriously. It is also a battle for most that is fought daily. Most people don't understand the daily symptoms and trials. This is why you feel let down by people. This is why most of us feel let down by people.

One thing to remember is that Jesus is your best friend. He's always with you and will never leave you or forsake you. Stay in prayer, very important. You will never find a human being that can give you what you will get from God.

Ask Him questions. Ask Him to show you why? Ask Him to show you wisdom in dealing with situations and trials? PRAY FOR YOURSELF. This seems like a very egotistical thing to do and maybe in another situation it would be, however I don't believe it is when you pray about depression, anxiety or another mental illness. I pray for myself.

Put on the armor of God. The breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation (there's more, I'll see if I can find the verse and add it later). This is protection from God. I try to do this every morning or anytime of the day if I think about it.

Ask others to pray for you. Prayer helps. Don't tell them your exact problem if you don't want to but just say 'I'm going through a very difficult time and I pray for peace and contentment".

Try to find a support system. It can be one or two people, even a small group of people on a forum like this. Email each other once a week with your trials, what great things God has done and prayer requests.

Find bible verses or passages that pick you up. Write little post it notes and leave them around the house (or in photo frames) or whatever that will bring your mind back to the Lord. This helps when we are in that rut of negative thinking.

May God bless you. Please feel free to private message me if you like, we can communicate weekly and I will be more than happy to help. Others can add themselves to our little group if they like.
