Do you ever doubt that some of the things you see in your pentecostal church are from God???

Sometimes that happens to me . . . and I hate it when that happens. I see videos on youtube sometimes of some CRAZY weird and freaky "pentecostal" services that obviously aren't true pentecostals but when I read the comments I start to think what if these people are right and pentecostals are just crazy and its all emotion or demons???

Ahhh I hate when I get these thoughts!!

And when people start to say pentecostals feeling the Holy Spirit shaking and jerking and everything looks just like people getting possessed, I mean that happens in my church and even to me and it's so normal to me but the disgust and fear it gives some people scares me!

I never know what to say it just brings so much doubt to my mind it scares me!

The only thing I can think to say is that anything spiritual these days people label as the devil or demons! I mean if someone these days in church fell to the ground and saw a flashing light and was even temporarily blinded people would say wow that's demonic . . . but that's exactly what happened to Paul on the way to Damascus!

If a church filled with smoke to the point that the people had to walk out people would say that's witchcraft . . . but that's what happened when Solomon was dedicating the Temple and it was the Spirit of God!

AND if a church started shaking while people were inside praying people would label it as scary and devilish but that happened to the disciples many times!!!

I'm probably just ranting right now but what do you all do in your moments of doubt? Do you ever get them?

Blahhhhh

Doubts about what?

My doubts about my particular flavor of worship caused me to change churches. My doubts about God are just something I will have to hold in tension until I see Jesus face to face.
Doubt is part of the condition we find ourselves in. Don't give it too much credence... or any emotion for that matter.

"Do you ever doubt that some of the things you see in your pentecostal church are from God???"

Of course. I've been Assembly of God about half the time there has BEEN an Assembly of God. And over that 51 years or so, I've seen ALL SORTS of stupid stuff that people "claimed" was "From God". Paul tells you to "Prove all things". and he wouldn't have done that if it wasn't a "Required step".

Know your Bible and speak what IT says when folks ask questions. And if you don't know, say so.

"what do you all do in your moments of doubt?"

I try to hold a steady course from the last clear vision I had, And I EXPECT confusion as a "Normal consequence" of being alive, and having to cope with other people, and the enemy (Who LOVES Confusion).

"Do you ever get them?"

Of Course - everybody does. It goes with the territory. Hang onto the bedrock, and let the storms blow on by, y'all.

Yes I have doubts. I think that most of it is fake.

thats not doubt bro .. thats called unbelief -got to repent of that one

doubt is to be rejected ,resisted .. cast down ... "bringing every thought into submission under the knowledge of JESUS -pp.. , not a suggestion folks but somthing we must do .an action we are to take and act upon .. wow do i know that from experience this last weekend with my wife being in tacloban city philippines .. before she left god told me she would see troubles but not be harmed .. and she was in the full path of cyclone haiyun(Yolander) .. for 4 days i heard nothing .. do you think i did not have doubts flod me as i waited day and night in intense anguish wondering about the fate of my wife and 7 mnth old son ? the enemy came to me with all manner of imagry depicting thier horible end and i had to resist him and he did flee from me and returned time and time again and i resisted him ..crying to the lord and reminding him of his promise and declaring "lord Jesus i beleive your promise" . and he is faithful and they are out now with not a hair of thier head harmed ,just like God told me .. so yes folks we have doubts but if they are about nGod himself and the truth of the lord JEsus .. they must be resistedpulled down and placed in subjection to the truth of the lord JESUS ! and NEVER entertained .

but wait - the op is speaking of the acts of people .. and having doubts as to whetehr those actions ,deeds, whatever are of God or not .. ..it is ok to question it is not a sin to inquire of the lord into such things ,, but dont lean on your own understanding .

so to that i say ask the Holy Spirit to give you the gift of discernment . desire it earnestly .. and he wil give you the gift of discernment ..
whatever you ask in my name according to my wil i will do it ...
... don't doubt that :) .

We must remain alert. Not all that we come across is healthy or even correct. That does not always lead to an 'easy fit' though. But my own life and knowledge of God has grown directly as I have tossed out some things over time and come to far better understanding of the biblical message. Doubts can be your friend sometimes.

Does God keep His promises, or doesn't He?

I just had a HUGE argument on Facebook with a bunch of cessationists. They are committed to their unbelief, and will tell you how much they are standing on the Bible in the same sentence that they denounce what the Bible is saying. Now that's fake. These people are at the end of the road you are on. God's trustworthiness is 180 degrees from the direction you are headed in. Trust God or don't. It's up to you.

All you need to care about is you....You know who you are in Christ. I doubt a lot so much that God showed me my folly that even the one's who just sit back He cherishes.....If they say they believe Jesus to be who He is. There is no other reason to doubt what they say. I say this in a way of a backslidden christian. Who had known the way of trying to do everything right. Then consumed by fear that on my Judgment day I ill have one or two blow's but make it....I am so hard on myself that I have given up on try to be perfect and just love God for His mercy.

It is important to remember that each person in a services is an individual. One expression of worship might be authentic while another isn't. One unusual movement could be someone with actual behavioral disorders. Another could be someone misinterpreting what the service is about, and just trying to fit in.

And yes, some could be carrying in things that oppose God's agenda. There might even be a plant of someone intentionally trying to destroy a ministry by exaggerating.

In a service full of dedicated believers, God might speak to people differently and deal with them in unique ways. I have felt healing during praise that caused me to cry ... when everyone else was happy I was unloading past grief.

There have been times God has asked me to do things like get up and walk behind people to pray for them. If each person had a different directive like this, it could look chaotic. When I do this it is not emotionalism, but conscious effort to pray and bring hope to others. But in concert with others moving freely, it does not look orderly and contained.

One might be intent on doing spiritual warfare through dance and flag movement. Another might be crying out in prayer for healing that sounds like groaning. Conscious actions, as opposed to uncontrolled movements.

Most people who prophesy would say they have control over what they say, and when they choose to say it. What you describe sounds like people who have let go of their freedom of choice and allowed anything to control their words and actions.

That can compare to trances, Dervish whirls, the Oracle at Delphi that breathes in magma fumes, peyote journeys... people giving up their control of conscious behavior in order to reach a spiritual plane.

But we know that God always dwells within us, and we do not need to conjure Him up or disable our rationale to get in touch with Him. So you have a good point there.
