  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know quite a few women who have struggled to conceive. Eventually they've all been able to get pregnant but it has taken months if not years for them to fall pregnant. We are all a similar age, with similar backgrounds, all of us are Christians and the only difference I can think of..is that all of them but myself, have been (at some point in the past) on the Pill.
I have never been on it, and for us when we decided to have children we fell pregnant straight away.
So what I am wondering, is if the pill can relate to people not being able to conceive quickly? Have any of you been on the pill and then been able to fall pregnant straight away? or have you been on the pill and it has taken a while? There is possibly nothing in it but i thought it would be interesting to find out.
I'm also going to post this in the womens discussion.

I wondered the same thing. I just wonder if it could have anything to do with that one shot b/c it stays in your system so long. I have a friend who dicided she and her husband wanted to have a baby. Her Dr. told her to go off of it then 3 months later she could start trying. She got pregnant on her 4th months. I on the other hand got pregnant a month after I stopped taking the pill (5 years ago). At my 9th week of pregnancy I miscarried. So I wondered if b/c the pill was in my system, if by chance it didn't give the baby a chance to fully develope. With my son, I stopped using birth control 3 months before I actually got pregnant and here he is healthy and strong. Just a thought.

Interesting point! From other places that I've posted this thought, it seems that people that have been on the pill have been able to get pregnant straight away with no problems.
Some people pointed me to the fact that maybe its geneological reasons for not conceiving, although a few of them women I mentioned, well they come from families where they have several brothers or sisters so that would make me think it couldn't be genetic?
But what you are saying makes a lot more sense!!

Everyone I know who has gotten pregnant was on some form of hormonal birth control. We went off of it and are in our 11th month of TTC. I don't know, sometimes I think it's murphey's law, that those who are trying to prevent it do and those who want it have trouble.

I miscarried in 2004, most likely they think it's because I had ovarian cysts, a type which make it impossible for my ovaries to make complete healthy eggs, so the egg which got me pregnant wasn't right and couldn't have created a baby that would have survived to term so my body miscarried it.

Now I'm cyst free and we're trying but it'll happen when it happens.
